PROJECT PROPOSAL

01. Proposed Components/process

Manufacture plastic based waste pyrolysis prototype machine to Produce Petroleum fluid by
using Waste Plastics, Polythene and Rubber to fulfill the essential requirement of petroleum
oil of SLAF Station Ekala.

02. Rational of Project

Plastic, polythene and Rubber waste is become a huge issue to the Sri Lanka Air force as
well as to complete environment system. Further, at present the cost of the petroleum
products is become an immerse issue to SLAF with prevailing economic situation of the
country. As a remedy to this matters we suggest to build a prototype machine to convert
plastic and rubber based waste to petroleum fluid.
03. Background of the Project

As an Airframe Advanced Trainees we hope to implement practice to recycle the plastic,

polythene and rubber waste (which considered as non-recyclable) and save money in
environmental friendly way. This will be the first attempt in Air force to produce
petroleum oil from waste and by this project we can seek the feasibility to utilize this in all
SLAF establishments to produce petroleum oil by using waste materials. In addition, by
this project, trainees can have number of opportunities to obtain a practical experience.
Moreover, trainees will be able to improve their skills in group activities and coordinating
with others to reach a common target

04. Project Plan

The project plan has been scheduled as follows,

 Initially, a project proposal was submitted for the approval of CO SLAF TTS Eka
subjected to WO I/C, Off I/C, CI Tech and OCT TTS.

 Then, trainees are to be planned the way of doing this. Afterwards the material
collection as per the schematic of the project after the quotation is taken.

 The completion of the group project will be successfully realized by overcoming

faults, shortcomings and barriers they met.
