Theres a Service!

in worship service

1 Samuel 12:24 KJV

Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath
done for you.

Intro:

Backround a. Samuel said to all Israel: After the victory of Saul over the Ammonites in 1 Samuel 11,
Samuel knew the nation would now begin to look to this king for leadership.

(4-5) Israel affirms the blameless leadership of Samuel. Samuel challenges Israel to serve God under
their new king.

Service - a form followed in worship or in a religious ceremony, contribution to the welfare of others,
the work performed by one that serves.

Attending on consistent basis can be worship, but it cannot be called worship service because we are
served!

Sadly many churches today live by the same kind of lifestyle, only worshippers, merely attenders! Were
does service goes nowadays? Nothing but to self. The title holders, vips, seniors that will not do the dirty
works,

Luke 12:37 KJV

Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you,
that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

Why and how do we put service in our worship that will make God smile?

1.EXPECTATION of GOD

John 12:26 KJV

If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve
me, him will my Father honour.

God requires Service! Jesus himself lived as a servant for all and God’s expects nothing less than the
best,

He expects service, not entitlement to privileges but also loves to work on his responsibilities, serving
means rendering work for someone or something, its moving, has actions,
Luke 22:26 KJV

But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief,
as he that doth serve.

No seniorities, no special treatments, God doesn’t reward vips, he rewards servants

2.EXCLUSIVE CONTRACT

Luke 16:13 KJV

No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold
to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

There is no double job in spiritual realm, nobody can survive the holiness of God’s work while doing
satanic jobs, we simply cannot have both! Its either we are workers of satan who pretend to be a
christian, or God’s servant that rather to be hated by the world but pushing through to help more
people get out of satans businesses

3.EXERCISE OUR DUTY

Luke 17:10 KJV

So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are
unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

Jesus calls us to serve him like he served us

John 13:13-14 KJV

Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. [14] If I then, your Lord and Master, have
washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

Luke 17:9 KJV

Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

4.ENHANCES GOD’S MINISTRIES

Romans 12:5-11 KJV

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. [6] Having then gifts
differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the
proportion of faith; [7] Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; [8]
Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with
diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. [9] Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that
which is evil; cleave to that which is good. [10] Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love;
in honour preferring one another; [11] Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

If we ask ourselves what is our contribution to enhance God’s kingdom on earth? We work for our living,
we work for other people, we work for our family but why cant we work for the ministry?

Conclusion

All our service, all our obedience, all our love for God should be put in this context. We do it because of
the great things He has done for us. We don’t serve God so as to persuade Him to do great things for us.
He has done the great things and asks us to receive them by faith. Then we serve Him because of the
great things he has done for us.

Hebrews 10:35-36 KJV

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. [36] For ye have
need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
