Twitter Q&A
The easiest, most creative way to Host and manage a Q&A on Twitter.
Using a unique hashtag chosen by you, Q&A allows you to answer
questions directly from your fans and followers.

A Host is the creator and owner of a Q&A session, which means they
have the most control. They can add Collaborators or Curators, send
announcement Tweets, end Q&A sessions, and more.

Hosts
Q&A Setup

1 Create Your Q&A Hashtag


Adding a hashtag is required. Fans will use this
hashtag to ask you questions.

You may use multiple hashtags.

2 Invite Collaborators
Collaborators will be able to participate in your Q&A
by answering questions. Questions answered from
Collaborators will thread with your answers.

3 Assign Curator
Assign another handle to be your Curator, so they
can monitor and select Tweets for you to answer.
Find out how to use the Curator feature on page 13.

This step is optional, but highly recommended.

4 Add Twitter Logo Overlay


When the feature is turned on, a Twitter logo will be
automatically placed in the top right corner of all
your Q&A media including the announcement Tweet
and video/photo replies.

5 Choose Announcement Tweet Type


Select your preference of Tweet type for your
announcement Tweet or choose to skip. If you decide
to skip, you can add an announcement Tweet later
after you have setup your Q&A.

Selecting the Card option will yield Twitter’s


Conversational Card format. Card Tweets have a
hashtag limit of 20 characters.

Selecting the Regular option will yield a standard text,


video, or photo Tweet for your announcement.

6 Compose Tweet
Announce the Q&A by writing your Tweet copy
and adding a photo or video from your camera
roll or Media Studio account.

Your hashtag will be auto-populated.

7 Add Your Location


Are you on a movie set or at Twitter HQ?
Let your fans know by including your
location.

7 Preview Your Tweet


Before publishing your Q&A Tweet
announcement preview it to make sure all looks
good.

8 Review Icons
After you send the announcement Tweet, you will
have the option to review each response type
(video, text, and like) before entering the Q&A
session.

You can then choose to enter the Q&A session or


start later. Note that by entering the Q&A session,
it does not mean that you have to start answering
questions. You can always leave the Q&A and
resume later.

View Q&A Sessions

💬 Accessing Your Q&As


As of version 0.67, you are able to create and
participate in multiple Q&A sessions, at the same
time.

To access your Q&A sessions, enter the Q&A


feature from the home screen. From here you will
see a list of all of your active sessions.

📍 Navigating Your Q&As


Q&A’s you started as a Host will be under the “all”
tab. You can then click over to the invited tab to see
Q&A’s that you have been specifically invited to as a
Collaborator or Curator.

⚙ Q&a Settings
Select the down carrot, to view settings for each
Q&A session. Depending on your role, settings will
look different for each Q&A session (i.e. Hosts will
see the option to end Q&A session, but
Collaborators and Curators won’t.)

Q&A Execution

🤳 Answering Questions
Use the different tabs to browse your questions.
Answer a question by tapping the video, text, or like
icons.

⚙ Q&A Settings
Click the gear icon at the top left of your screen
to enter your Q&A settings. Here you will be able to
add more Curators, Collaborators, change video
duration limits, hide sensitive content and much
more.

⏯ Resume Q&a Session


Need a break? Select the home icon and leave your
Q&A. Open Q&A when you’re ready to resume your
session.

🛑 Ending Your Session


End your Q&A session by selecting “End Q&A” in
the top right corner and confirming. You can then
wrap up your Q&A session by creating a Tweet to
thank your fans for submitting questions. This is
highly recommended.

Collaborators are participants in a Q&A session. They are invited to a
Q&A by the Host, and they have the ability to see and answer questions.

How to Collaborate

🤳 Answering Questions
After you have been added as a Collaborator by the
session Host, open the VIT app and proceed to enter
your Q&A session by clicking the Q&A feature on your
home screen and entering the relevant session on the
next screen.

Use the different tabs to browse your questions. Answer


a question by tapping the video or text icons.

⚙ Q&a Settings
Click the gear icon at the top left of your screen to
enter your Q&A settings. Here you will be able to change
video duration limits and hide sensitive content.

⭐ Curate
In addition to answering questions, Collaborators have
the ability to curate Tweets. They can do so by tapping
the icon under each question.

You can then rearrange and edit curated Tweets by


heading over to the curated tab.

*Clicking the icon in the top right will show you other
Collaborators and Hosts in the session

Curators have the ability to select high quality questions they think the
Host and Collaborator should answer. They do not have the ability to
answer questions.

Curator
How to Curate

1 Enter Q&A Session


After you have been added as a Curator by the
session Host, open the VIT app. Proceed to enter
your Q&A session by clicking the Q&A feature on
your home screen and entering the relevant session
on the next screen.

2 Favorite Tweets
As a Curator, you will only be able to “favorite”
Tweets in the VIT App. You will not be able to reply to
questions.

To do so, click the icon below each question.

Questions that have been favorited, will be added to


the curated tab for the Host and other Collaborators.

3 Curated Tab
In the curated tab, you can unfavorite Tweets or
select “edit” to rearrange the order of Tweets (this
recommended if you want the Host and/or
collaborator to answer questions in a specific order
or to rank their importance)

handles can participate.

Use a Specific Hashtag


Choose a hashtag that is specific to your Q&A
session. We recommend using the individual’s

Leading Up To Your Q&A

1-2 Days Before the Session


Tweet about the Q&A session in advance. Details to
include in the Tweet copy are:

1 Access
Enter the VIT App and on the home screen, select
“Instant Unlock”.

This will immediately bring up a setup menu where


you can select the content a user sees before and
after engaging with your tweet.

Tweet Copy: The main message you want to send

Media: Add Images or videos to your tweet

create a new one, or head back to the VIT App
home screen.

Monetization
You can monetize your content from the VIT app through the Camera
feature. This allows you to opt videos into Twitter’s Amplify program with
your selection of categories, countries, exclusions, etc.*

Amplify Sponsorships

1 Upload Media
Start by entering the Camera feature from the home
screen.
 
After recording or uploading your video, a "Monetize this
video" option will appear at the bottom of the screen.
Select this option to begin setting up your monetization.

2 Select Sponsorship Program


After toggling on the "Monetize this video" button, a
number of fields will appear.
 
In the “Monetization program” field, select your desired
sponsorship program to continue.

3 Monetization Settings
The next field excludes any @handles from advertising
on your content. Select as many as needed. This field is
optional.
 
After setting up exclusions, the next field allows you to
expire any promotion on your Tweet at a desired date
and time. This field is optional.

Amplify Pre-roll

1 Upload Media
Start by entering the Camera feature from the home
screen.
 
After recording or uploading your video, a "Monetize
this video" option will appear at the bottom of the
screen. Select this option to begin setting up your
monetization.

2 Select Sponsorship Program


After toggling on the "Monetize this video" button,
select In-Stream Video Ads in the “Monetization
program” field.

3 Monetization Settings
Continue down the list to fill out the necessary
fields.

Field Types

Tag Your Content: Select the category that best


describes your content. This field is required

Monetize In These Countries: Select the countries you


want your content to be monetized in (you may select
multiple). This field is required.

Exclude Advertiser Tags: Specific advertiser categories


will be blocked from advertising on your content. This field
is optional.

Exclude Advertiser @Handle: This excludes @handles

monetization?
The option to turn on monetization will only
appear if you are whitelisted for an Amplify
program and have recorded or uploaded a video.

Why don't I see an option to opt into Amplify


Sponsorships or Video Ads?
Your @handle must be whitelisted for Amplify
Sponsorships or Video Ads to be able to opt you
videos from the VIT app

What type of content can I monetize?


You are only allowed to monetize video content.

Setup

1 Upload Announcement Overlays


From the home screen, tap your profile icon and choose
“Sponsored Q&A overlays.” Browse your library or files
and select the desired overlay for announcements and
replies.

2 Announcement Tweet Overlay


Your announcement overlay will be applied
automatically when you record or upload your media
during the Q&A setup.

3 Reply Overlay
When recording your video reply it will automatically
include the overlay so you can ensure the target shot is
in full view.

For image replies, the overlay is automatically added


which can be previewed prior to Tweeting.

How to Create Logo Overlay

1 Create Artboard
Open your graphics editor software (e.g.
Adobe Illustrator) and create a new document
using a canvas size of 1280px x 720px (for
Announcement tweet) or 720px x720px (reply
Tweets).

2 Place Logo
Place or create your logo on the canvas in your
desired position. For reply overlays, try to avoid
placing logo in areas such as the middle where
the VITs face might be. For replies, avoid logo
placement in the bottom right corner as that is
where the “reply to @handle” will appear

*Please note that the logo should not take up


the entire canvas

3 Export Logo Overlay


Give your file a name and ensure that the file
format is exported as a transparent .png

Export at 1280 x 720 px (if for announcement)


and 720 x 720px (if for replies)

Overlay?
Only whitelisted accounts have access to sponsored
overlays

Why can't I see my logos when I try to upload


them?
If you do not see your logo when uploading, please
verify that it is a .PNG file and 1280 x 720px (for
announcements) and 720 x 720px (replies).
