Time: Summary of Learning Activity Sequence (dot points):
4-5 minutes - Read Acknowledgement of country (appendix 1). Display the ‘first languages map’ (First
Languages Map, 2022) on the interactive smartboard. Identify on the map where Kaurna land is
located and surrounding areas. Allow students to acknowledge where they were born, raised or
have visited.
3-5 minutes - Read learning objectives/intentions of the lesson and success criteria.
- Allow time for students to ask any questions.
10-15 minutes - Summarise learning from week 1 by skimming through slide show. Use ‘presentation slideshow’
settings to ask students what they understand about the topics before they are displayed on the
screen.
- Allow time for students to ask questions.
15-18 minutes - Direct students to collecting a classroom laptop to access the online game:
https://peo.gov.au/sub-site/three-levels-of-government- (Parliamentary Education Office
(2022).
- Allow 15-18 minutes for students to play the game. Use last 2 minutes to pack up laptops and
return to seats.
10-15 minutes - Project PowerPoint slides (examples shown in appendix 3) and as a class discuss who is
responsible for the topic on the board. Use student name paddle pop sticks to ensure all students
have an opportunity to answer.
- In the last 2 minutes of the lesson ask students to quiz the person sitting next to them at their
table groups.
