COMMON AND ABSTRACT NOUNS

Common nouns refer to general names for people, places, things or animals.
They do not start with a capital letter unless they appear at the beginning of a
sentence.
Examples: People: teacher, doctor, learner
Places: city, town, park, ocean
Things: book, computer, car
Animals: dog, cat, bird

Abstract nouns refer to ideas, emotions or concepts that cannot be seen by


our eyes or that we cannot touch.
Examples: happiness, love, courage, honesty, joy
