SUBANG
Here is my unforgettable experience. One day I joined a story telling contest. Two of my
friends and I had been chosen to take a part in the final round at the district level. I was very
happy and eager to win the competition.
For preparation, I had to memorize and understand the story well.My teacher guided and
taught me pronunciation, facial expression and gestures. One day, before performing, my friends
and I were busy to prepare the props and costumes for the competition. Thing that me sad was
my teacher rented the props and costumes for my friends but not for me. My two friends had
beautiful costumes and luxurious props. Although I just wore the simple ones, I performed my
best to win the competition.
The competition started. I got number 29 and my friends got number 5 and 10. I was
nervous but I showed my best performance on stage. Lots of people took photos and videos of
me. Finally, anxiety was gone after I had finished performing. And then, the announcement
came which made three of us very uneasy. Luckily I was chosen as the first winner. I went to the
stage and all the judges congratulated me and gave a plague, trophy, and money. I was very
happy.

Many hundreds of years ago, there lived an old woman, all alone in a tiny hut.
She had no children, and no one to ask after her. The old woman would weep night and
day for a child, but of course, with no result. One day she took an egg, wrapped it
carefully in cotton cloth, and put it in a corner of her hut. Night and day the old woman
looked after the egg, in the hope that maybe it would give her a child. But nothing
happened, and every day the old woman grew more and more unhappy.
One morning, as she went to look at the egg, she found that it had broken – and in
its shell sat the tiniest, loveliest baby boy that anyone could imagine. The baby saw the
old woman and smiled and held out its tiny arms. The old woman was delighted – here at
last was the child she had wanted for so long.
The old woman loved the child dearly, and looked after it so carefully and so
well, that by the time it was a year old it could walk and talk as well as any grown up.
But for some strange reason, no one knows what, the baby stopped growing. He
remained as tiny as a one-year old for the rest of his life. He began to be called the
‘Dwarf’.
The old woman did not care. She still loved the baby devotedly. ‘You will be a
great king one day, my child,’ she told him, sure that the baby was destined for great
things.
One day the old woman said to the Dwarf, ‘Go to the king’s palace, my son, and
challenge him to test his strength against yours.’
The Dwarf protested. ‘How can I challenge the king, mother?’ he said horrified.
‘He is greater and much stronger than I. ’But the old woman insisted, and the Dwarf was
forced to do as she said.
The king smiled at the child’s challenge, and asked him to lift a heavy stone. The
Dwarf went weeping to the old woman. ‘How can I lift that heavy stone?’ he asked. ‘If
the king can lift it, so can you,’ said the old woman, and sent him back to the palace .And
sure enough, the Dwarf was able to lift the heavy stone.
The king gave him many more tasks to do, but anything the king could do, the
Dwarf could do as well.

Many people say that examinations should be abolished because they are not the best
measure of student’s capabilities. These people believe that students can study on their own and
do better without the nagging worry and pressure exerted by examinations.
Yet, there are persuasive reasons to show that examinations should not be abolished. It is
insufficient that teachers assign homework and correct it. Because this is not done under
supervision, they cannot be sure that it is really the work of the students themselves. Moreover,
homework is not a test of student’s ability. Homework is a method of merely keeping him
occupied.
Nowadays, in the hunt for jobs, students need to produce some evidence of their
capabilities. Prospective employers like to see copies of examination results. This is the only
way a student’s qualifications can be judged. This attitude greatly encourages the use of
examinations, since it is considered it necessary for them to measure their capabilities.
Most people agree that the family planning programme is desirable for the good of
family and society. But individuals and religious groups differ sharply on the methods of birth
control that they consider moral and acceptable.
Couples that practice birth control do so for various reasons. They may want to limit or
space their children, or to have no children at all. Young couples often postpone having children
so that both partners can work full-time. Other couples space their children so they can give each
as much attention as possible. Some women are advised by their doctor to avoid pregnancy for
health reasons. In many countries with rapidly growing populations, the government encourages
couples to limit the number of their families.
Even thought birth control has gained in acceptance, opposition to the practice is
continuous. Some people fear that birth control encourages sexual outside marriage or that
government might impose birth control. Some religious groups oppose birth control on moral
grounds.
Some religious groups teach that artificial methods of birth control are immoral because
they separate the purposes of intercourse in marriage-conjugal love and the procreation of
children. Although they oppose all artificial birth control, they consider natural family planning
to be acceptable.
