GL22SCC-DC
Locomotive
The GL22SCC-DC is the smallest in our range of main-line locomotives. The traction power of this model is 2200hp, which is delivered
through 6 axles with a nominal axle weight of 90 ton, offering a low axle weight of 15 tons per axle. This relative low axle-weight
makes this model a popular choice for countries with track that are not in a good condition. Although we use a 7FDL12 GE engine
as standard on this model, the engine can be replaced by a few other suitable and similar-sized power sources according to customer
preference. The use of fabricated bogies with unitized brake cylinders (each wheel has its own brake cylinder) provides park-brake
on all 6 axles, which is amajor safety advantages compared to park brake on a single axle. The fabricated bogie further includes sliding
suspensions which reduce wheel flange wear, with extending wheel-life and reduced life-cycle cost as the end-result. The use of
proven technologies as well as readily available parts contributes to maintainability and consequently to high levels of availability,
which is the case for all the products in the Grindrod stable.
