ASSESSMENT: ESSAY
1. Why is it important for Gender Co-coordinators to have a good working
knowledge of the history, mission statement, and policy of the organization?
History, mission statement, and policy. These important tools are responsible
for a better workplace and environment. These enables every organization to be in
place, to give itself a purpose, and to serve as fuel and foundation.
When it comes to history, we are all aware how the past contributes to the
present and the future. With the knowledge of organization’s past, individuals will be
able to have a better understanding of all the records of the organization and how it
works. With this fact, a better future will be shaped. Moreover, understanding change
in context, corporate culture, and organization requires a thorough understanding of
history. For instance, hiring new employees can be a stressful transition for an
organization. Even though new hires are extremely talented, but they frequently lack
historical context, which can pose difficulties when they join a new organization. Just
like any other coordinators, gender co-coordinators are no excuse to grasping an
organization’s history for it to have good and smooth working flow.
Above all, gender co-coordinators are in charge of making the workplace and
environment a better place to work. It is a need for them to have an understanding of
history, business culture, and organization necessitates. It is also critical for all the
individuals in an organization to understand the mission statement in order to help
each other organize their efforts toward a common purpose and assist in steering it in
the proper direction.
As an adult, I must recognize that there are distinctions between boys and
girls, even between women and men. It is important to be careful of words
whenever we talk, write, or having conversations to avoid gender stereotyping. It
is also better to not speak stereotypical characteristics because these limit
knowledge of gender roles and we tend to see just the one side of the picture.
