Find the volume a right circular cone to be obtained from a sector of radius 26 cm and whose central

angle measure 138.5°? c. 700 n

V = 1/3 πr²h

r = 26 cm

sector:

lθ = 2πr

l(138.5degx(π/180deg)) = 2π(26)

l = (2π(26))/2.4173 = 67.5807 cm

lateral area is πrl...where l is the slant height

l² = h² + r²

67.58072 = h2 + 262

h = 62.3791 cm

V = 1/3 π(26)²(62.3791)

V = 14056.09 π cm3

If the radius of the circle is decreased by 20%, by how much is the area decreased? d. 0.56

If R is the original radius then the area of the circle is pi*R^2

If we decrease the radius by 20% the new radius is .8*R so the new area is:

pi*(.8*R)^2 = pi*(.64*R^2).

Compute the percent of the new to the old:

(pi*.64R^2)/(pi*R^2) = 0.64

The decrease then is 100 - 64 = 36%

The approximate surface area of an ellipse is c. Fir²

What is the volume of a frustum of a cone whose upper base is 15 cm in diameter and lower base is 10
cm in diameter with an altitude of 25 cm c. 3180.87 cm3

V = π(25)/3 (152 + 15*10 + 102)

V = 12435.471 cm3

*divided by 4 will give the answer above*but why?

A cone has a base area of 30in? and a lateral area which is 4.5 times bigger than the base area. The
surface area of the cone in in' is c. 75

Lat area = 4.5*30 = 135

Sur area = Base area + lat area = 30in 2 + 135in2 = 165in2

*75 is the answer if base area is 1.5 times bigger
