Direction: Make a short narrative of at least 250 words about how your community
responds in this trying time of COVID-19. If necessary, you can add lines below.
Kindly write your answers in a yellow paper/shot bond paper.

The COVID-19 really changes our life in our community. It brought us fear and there
are times it seems so hopeless. It challenged our courage and strength and also our
faith. At the beginning, we are all scared when we heard the news about the
Pandemic. We witnessed the separation from each other and the street was empty.
No more social gatherings, we can’t personally reach our loved especially those who
are far from us. Then lockdown was implemented which lead to less transportation
and the livelihood in our community such as fishing and farming were merely
affected. As a response together with the authorities, the barangay captain and his
barangay official create a forum on how they should handle the issue. In the forum,
they collected some concerns and problem that the pandemic may cause. Some of
the concerns are hunger because some of the residents are not allowed outside and
some were unemployed and some livelihood and businesses were affected. They
really need an immediate solution to prevent people from hunger. That’s why the
barangay officials ask help from the local government for the funds which will be
used as a help for each family members of the community. With the fund, they can
buy essential things like rice, groceries and water for the home usage specifically for
the number of days of lockdown. Another response is the transparency between the
authorities in our community and the people. The authority spread relevant
information about COVID-19. They also show and assess on what are the steps and
ways on how to prevent the virus from spreading. These ways are Social Distancing,
Wear Face Mask, Sanitize and Stay at home to keep. Luckily the people in our
community follow the health protocols and cooperate with the authorities. In terms of
distribution of help, the authorities make sure that everyone can access and receive.
They also mandate curfew hours so that the movement of people in our community
will be controlled. If there are families who enter our community which came from
Manila, they proceed to home quarantine. That’s why we really feel safe in our
community and thanks God we are zero case in our community.
