The duration of Menstrual Cycle can be divided into four main phases:
1-5
1-13
Day 14
15 – 28

Menstrual Cycle begins on the 1st day of mensuration and lasts till the 5th day of the
menstrual cycle.

Follicular phase (1 – 13) days

Estrogen and testosterone start to rise during this phase.

The Pituitary gland that is present in the brain called (FSH) Follicle Stimulating
Hormone.

FSH stimulates the follicles in one ovary to mature or stimulates the egg cells in the
ovaries to grow.

One of these egg cells begin to mature in a sac like structure called Follicle.

It takes 13 days for the egg cell to reach maturity.

While the egg cell matures its follicle secrets a hormone that is (FSH) that stimulates
the uterus to develop a lining of blood vessels and soft tissue called Endometrium.

Ovulation Phase (egg releases day 14 )

On the 14th day of the cycle, the pituitary gland secretes a hormone that causes the
ovary to release the matured egg cell.

The released egg cell is swept into the Fallopian tube by the Cilia of the Fimbriae.

Luteal Phase: (after egg releases day 15 – 28)

During this phase estrogen and the Testosterone decline and your body starts
producing Progesterone.

The egg cell released during this ovulation phase stays in the Fallopian tube for 24
hours.
