Q1. What is the Classification of Solid Wastes?

Answer: Solid waste is divided into combustible and non-combustible.


Depending on the inherent hazards associated with its physical and chemical
properties, solid waste can be classified as either hazardous or non-hazardous.
Another method is based on whether the waste is biodegradable.

Q2. Which are the Disaster prone Regions of India? Which are the major
Disasters in India. 

Answer:  Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar are the high flood-prone states of
India. About 30 per cent of India's total area comes under drought prone area,
which affects about 50 million people. The western part of Rajasthan is
categorized as Extreme Drought Affected Areas.

Q.3 What does Water Conservation mean? 

Answer: Conserving water carefully and using it without waste is called saving
water.  Water conservation includes all policies, strategies, and activities to
sustainably manage freshwater as a natural resource, protect the hydrosphere,
and meet current and future human needs.  Main water conservation activities
are as follows. Improve water management practices that reduce water use or
improve the beneficial use of water.    
Q.4 What are the Causes of Landslides?

It can be caused by heavy rain. Deforestation is also a major cause of


landslides. This is because trees, plants, etc. keep soil particles compact, and
deforestation causes mountain slopes to lose their protective layer, allowing
rainwater to flow unhindered down the slopes.  It can also be caused by
earthquakes.
