Info:

- 1 die for each group

- Students given “Solution Checklist” to keep track of clues and their answers to the solutions to the case.
- Teacher is the only one in possession of the “clues”. Students must go up to the teacher once either of the
chosen numbers are rolled.
- Case written on the whiteboard for 24/7 visual
- 14 locations written on notecards (all the same for each case), that will determine/correspond with the
“clue” that the teacher will give the student.

1. Groups of 3
2. Every group has a die. If you roll a 3, you get a clue. Keep rolling till you get these numbers.
3. Once you roll the number, one student will approach the teacher and pick from a bucket that contains all
14 locations. Depending on which location they grab, will be what clue they receive. If student draws a
location they already got, they must return to their seat and try again.
4. Student is given 30 seconds to remember the clue to then return to their team and share the information
5. Students can take notes on the clues that they receive to help the solve the case
6. Student can use their “Scotland Yard” card only ONCE, to block off the location they just received a clue
from to slow down other groups. The location can be blocked off for ‘one turn’. If a group draws that card,
they will be blocked off only for that one draw. If they draw it their NEXT turn, it is now unblocked.
7. Student can use their “Skeleton Key” card only ONCE, to open any location that has been sealed off by
another group. Teacher collects these cards to ensure they are not used more than once.
8. When group believes they have solved all the lettered items listed, they must roll the die and receive the
chosen numbers to then raise their hands and call the teacher over to collect their solutions checklists to
review them.
9. To win, the group must give ALL the correct answers to ALL of the lettered items in the Case. A) killer, B)
weapon, and C) Motive
a. Teacher determines if the answers show that the group thoroughly understands the proper
solution.
10. Teacher will then announce if the group wins or needs to continue solving the case. Teacher can give a
hint as to what letter they are missing if needed.
