Definition of Terms

For a better understanding of this study, the researchers defined various words that were utilized
throughout the study conceptually and operationally.

Insecticidal. A substance that used to kill insects. These include ovicides and larvicides, which are used
to kill insect eggs and larvae.

Extraction. A process of taking out a substance from another substance.

Insects. A small arthropod animal that has six legs and generally one or two pairs of wings

Chromolaena odorata. A tropical and subtropical species of flowering shrub in the family Asteraceae. In
this study, Chromolaena odorata was used as an insecticide against Sitophilus oryzae.

Sitophilus oryzae. A stored product pest which attacks seeds of several crops, including wheat, rice, and
maize. It is a common pantry pest known to contaminate pantries and create a large infestation with their
egg-laying.
