But First, Caution
I am writing this case study after 1 year of selling this
blog - because I don't want to brag, show off, or hurt the
blog investor.

I am writing this case study ONLY TO ENABLE you to do

the same thing - creating a profitable blog, reaping the
rewards, and selling it for an enormous profit!

I will be sharing everything in this case study - from

domain selection to keywords, content creation, website
and earnings, and also the process of how I sold the
website.

I've always been a strong advocate of building digital

assets & passive income streams - and the blogging model
is one of the most easiest and profitable models to
achieve this goal.

My aim in writing this book is to achieve that goal -

building passive income & achieving the financial,
location, & time independence!

The Four Core Module
of a Profitable Blog!

Profitable Blog Case Study www.theblogginglab.org

Core Modules
Creating and selling profitable blogs is a huge industry
and a proven business model, and here are the four
core modules that you need to master to make this
model work for you:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Website setup & maintenance
Content Creation
Monetizing & Flipping (selling)

I'll be sharing the details on each of the above core

modules in this case study so that you can get the
complete overview.

You'll learn exactly what I did in SEO, how I built and

created the website, what was the content creation
process and how I monetized and flipped the website.

www.theblogginglab.org
Module # 1:
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Profitable Blog Case Study www.theblogginglab.org

Most people get scared of the word SEO whenever they hear it. They
think it is too nerdy, too technical, or too dry to go about it.

But the reality is different.

SEO, as related to the Blogging Busines model, is not dry, techy or nerdy
at all.

All you need to learn is this:

Niche Research
Keyword Research
On-Page SEO
Off-Page SEO

From the above, the first two are the main thing - and you'll need to
practice them a lot.

So let's get into the niche of the website we are studying right now.

It was - LIFE AND RELATIONSHIPS.

Why? Because it is such an evergreen and wide niche, there is always a lot
of space to make your profit.

www.theblogginglab.org
This niche ticked off all the boxes that we teach & recommend in a niche:

It should be evergreen (IT IS)

There should be an industry around it (There IS)
You should have a list of low-difficulty keywords as well (I had one)

Therefore, I decided on this niche and went with the domain name
thelifevirtue.com (suggested by a dear friend).

My first idea was to talk about every virtue in life, like honesty,
commitment, faith, courage, etc.

But then, I somehow shifted to another model.

I Identified some websites that were doing well in the same niche of life
and relationships (there is a whole strategy to it). Then I started stealing
their keywords that I thought I can beat them on.

For this, I used Ahrefs as my tool of choice and the process looked like
this:

Pick a competitor website

Enter it into Ahrefs
Go to Organic Keyword report and put the filters
Analyze each filtered keyword & see if you can beat it or not.

www.theblogginglab.org
Here are the filters that I used on the organic keywords report in Ahrefs:

KD 0-5
Word Count > 3

That's all - it gave me all the keywords that contained three or more 3
words.

And the KD (Keyword Difficulty) of these keywords was less than 5.

I then analyzed the SERPS (Search Engine Result Pages) for each of these
keywords and looked into the following factors:

Is the Search Intent Informational? (Manual)

Is there any website ranking without many backlinks? (Ahrefs)
Is there any gap in content that I can fulfill (Manual)

You see, these are the things that matter the most.

So let's get to each of them in the next page.

www.theblogginglab.org
Why & How to Check the Search Intent?

Why - Because it helps you in saving a lot of time, and money in terms of
content & keyword research. If you start writing for a keyword without
checking its intent (informational, navigational or commercial), your
content will not be relevant and will be just a waste of resources.

For example, "Enjoying the Small Things" seems like a perfect keyword to
pick in this niche, but when you search it, this a book that people are
searching for.

Then there is a MIXED intent as well - like the keyword "Why Am I Alive".
So people are looking for that song as well as some discussion and
answers to the question of "Why Am I Alive".

Therefore, it was crucial that I searched every keyword filtered by the

Ahrefs tool manually on Google as well to determine whether people are
looking for Information, Images, Videos, or some other thing.

My only concern was with the Information - because I will then create
content (article) to provide that information.

So always make it a point to see your keyword in Google first to

determine the right intent of the keyword, and there is more to it than I
am able to cover in this case study.

www.theblogginglab.org
Why a site with low or no backlinks?

So this part is going to be a bit tricky for those who don't know much
about SEO - you can always learn it from TheBloggingLab. :)

Stick with me here:

So the reason for having 1 or 2 3 websites on the first page of Google with
low or no backlinks is this:

Among all the factors that Google considers in ranking an article, Content,
Backlink & User Experience top them all.

So if we have some websites that have no backlink for that article, then it
means that if we can provide better content & better user experience, we
will be able to beat them without much effort.

Even a single, or low-impact backlink will beat that website in ranking.

I know this is a bit oversimplification of the whole process, but the point
of this case study is to simplify things, therefore, consider having some
sites with either low Domain Authority (DA) or with low or no backlinks
pointing to it.

Check the next page on how to do it.

www.theblogginglab.org
You can do this easily by looking at the SERP overview section in the
Keyword Explorer tool of Ahrefs.

The more 0 you see, the better it is.

www.theblogginglab.org
Is there any gap in content that I can fill?

This is one of the most important factors that you'll ever consider in
analyzing any keyword - IS THERE ANY GAP TO FILL?

And gaps can be of two things:

Covering all the relevant keywords.

Covering the topic in-depth or in a better way.

For seeing the gap in the keywords, you can use the manual analysis of
long-tail keywords suggested by Google or you can use any keyword
research tool as well.

For analyzing the depth of the topic covered, you need to open up the top
ranking pages and skim through them to analyze whether they are good
enough or not.

Pro Tip:

You can almost always in terms of the content, formatting and more.
Consider adding better images, tables, charts, information,
references and even just improving the formatting will help you in
ranking.

www.theblogginglab.org
So this is the most important part of creating a profitable blog.

Finding a solid niche & doing some really solid keyword research.

I teach in all my training that a niche is not finalized until you have found
around 30-50 keywords that fit the above criteria I have shared above.

You need to spend time & mind here - because if you mess up here, then
all your efforts and investment in creating a website and content will be a
waste.

Now you have the three factors to consider when selecting a niche and
the method to do the keyword research when finalizing the niche.

There is a lot more to learn in this regard and the internet is the goldmine
(Google & YouTube) - so you can explore them as well to further gain
clarity.

But be aware that this is not something to know, this is something to DO

AND PRACTICE.

www.theblogginglab.org
Module # 2:
Website Setup

Profitable Blog Case Study www.theblogginglab.org

After you have finalized your niche with the above methods, it is time to
build a website.

And to build a website, you only need three things:

Domain Name
Hosting
CMS (WordPress)

For buying the domain name and hosting, I always, always recommend
Namecheap.com & SymbolHost.com for beginners.

Their pricing is amazing, their support is really good and that's all a new
person needs to have.

As shared earlier, I chose the domain name of TheLifeVirtue.com and as

for the hosting, it was Namecheap at the start and then I moved my site to
SymbolHost.com for better speed.

For the list of plugins that I used on the website, see the next page.

www.theblogginglab.org
I used the following plugins on the website:

Yoast SEO (I recommend RankMath now)

TinyMCE Advanced for Formatting
WordFence for Security
Updraft for Backups
TOC+ for Table of Content
Link Whisper for Internal Linking

As for the theme, I used the Genesis frameworks and Genesis theme from
StudioPress - but I now use GeneratePress as it is better in my
experience.

So this was the basic setup of the website.

Other than this, I created the basic pages like:

About Us
Terms & Conditions (free tools)
Privacy Policy (free tools
Contact Us (basic form)

We go in much detail in our flagship training program "Ultimate Blogging

Adventure" with video tutorials to help you get the site done quickly.
Otherwise, it is not much technical & the above is enough as a base.

www.theblogginglab.org
Module # 3:
Content Creation

Profitable Blog Case Study www.theblogginglab.org

Content creation is the bloodline of a profitable blog. The better the
content is, the better the profits will be.

But most people get it wrong - they think that writing with advanced
vocabulary, and complex grammar will be required to create good
content.

But the truth is far from this - in fact, advanced vocabulary and complex
sentences will only HARM your profitable blog.

The average reader on the internet is looking for simple, easy-to-read,

easy-to-digest content. Your job is to do just that.

In TheBloggingLab's training, we have listed a 9-Point Checklist to follow

in every content we create.

For this website, I engaged three content writers to write 1 article each
per day, so it started off with a lot of speed.

We created content with an average words of around 1600-1800 per

article and created unique images from Canva for every article. The
process of writing these article was a basic one - looking at the
competitors and then doing better than them in terms of word-count,
formatting and idea coverage.

www.theblogginglab.org
The process of content creation was simple:

I created & maintained a supply of keywords

Assigned those keywords on Asana to writers on Weekly Basis
Writers would draft the articles on the website & update the task
I'd go in and check the article, and then hit the schedule

I followed the schedule of two articles per day initially on the site to get
the crawler accustomed to crawling my website, and then I started to
publish the articles whenever they were ready.

When I sold the website, It had around 353+ articles I believe (I don't
remember the exact number)

The writers were trained in using Grammarly to check the grammar and
other writing best practices so that they can generate good-quality
content. But overall, as I see it today, a lot of content improvements could
have been applied to the site to see better performance.

As such, it was not THE BIG project of mine so I just went with it.

As discussed in the first module of this case study, on-page SEO comes
with content so I'll be discussing the on-page SEO factors in the next
page.

www.theblogginglab.org
Just to revise, on-page SEO is implementing all the SEO factors that can
be applied ON THE PAGE (SITE).

It's all about optimizing your pages for Google and helping its systems
understand the topic, structure, and overall relevancy of a particular set
of queries or a topic.

I optimized the following factors:

Article Title (H1)

Slug (Permalink)
H2's (Secondary & Primary Keywords)
H3's
Meta Description
SEO Title
Image Optimization (alt tag, image size, EXIF data)
Internal linking
External linking to helpful resources
Unique Images
Good Content

I didn't do much link-building apart from the basic profile, comments, and
submission-based links. A few dozen PINS were added on a new Pinterest
profile as well to give some social signals to the website in the start.

www.theblogginglab.org
Module # 4:
Monetization

Profitable Blog Case Study www.theblogginglab.org

So now comes the part of earning money and making a profit - isn't this
the whole point of making a "profitable blog"?

Generally, there are three main monetization models out there:

Ads
Affiliate Marketing
Your Own Product

There are a lot more models as well - but above are the most popular at
least.

At first, I was using Google Adsense to monetize the blog when it started
receiving like 10k visits per month. But I wasn't much happy with the
earnings.

At that time, Ezoic was making a lot of noise and gaining much popularity
as an alternative to Google Adsense so I applied for it.

And much to my surprise, my earnings literally doubled in the next 3 days.

Ezoic was placing premium ads on my website and using its AI technology
to optimize those ads for every visitor.

Although it was difficult to set it up with all its requirements, but it was
worth the effort 100%. Since then, I am monetizing all of my websites with
Ezoic.

www.theblogginglab.org
Another way that I monetized the website was by using Clickbank.

For those who don't know, Clickbank is a marketplace where product

owners and digital marketers connect to help each other out. Product
owners create the product and almost all the marketing material such as
images, banners, emails, landing pages, etc.

Digital marketers use that content & material to market those products to
their audience - email lists, YouTube channels, blogs & private
communities, etc.

Clickbank acts as a mediator to make sure that everything is working

smoothly & fairly.

I studied the pages of my website with the highest traffic and then
searched relevant products on Clickbank, I then placed the banners &
CTAS in between various paragraphs of selected pages, and I started
getting like 3-5 sales every month.

Although the earning were not a lot, I liked getting those extra payments
for sure.

www.theblogginglab.org
How I Sold the Blog?

Selling this blog was never my objective - so I didn't even maintained any
P&L sheet for the blog. But somehow, I wanted to have an experience of
selling a blog as well & to see how it goes.

Most of my blogs are long-term assets and I don't plan to sell them early.

To flip this blog, I chose the easiest options of all - MotionInvest.com

They asked for the Google Analytics & Search Console access to verify the
things, and obviously the earning record from Ezoic. Then they made me
an offer after some 2-3 weeks, we negotiated a little and then decided on
a 36x multiple of the last 6 months average.

Then they planned to list the website, creating a listing page with all the
details.

Right after 1 hour, my site got sold. I paid 20% commission to

MotionInvest, and after transferring the website to the new owner, I had
the funds in my account within 1 month.

The whole process was smooth, and it went really great.

Who Am I & Why You
Should Trust Me?

Profitable Blog Case Study www.theblogginglab.org

The Overnight Success!
I started my journey into this world of online income
back in 2009 - when I was just 16 years old. Like all the
other people, it started from click to earn and other
such scams. But due to my interest in writing and
video editing, I quickly discovered the world of
freelancing and started taking on local projects with
both of these skills.

Back then, I had a Pentium 3 computer with 2 GB of

ram, shared among all the siblings. This was my
starting point - and this can be your starting point as
well. It just proves that you don't need a fancy
computer or workstation to do all of your work - you
can start with what you have and from where you are!

I always thought WHY these clients are giving me so

much work for writing. and what benefit do they get
when I write for them? These thoughts & questions
then led me to the world of Blogging & SEO.

www.reallygreatsite.com
This was the time when I first heard the word "Blogosphere" and the
various jargon that comes with it - and I started to dabble in this world
more and more.

Meeting & Interviewing the then-and-now Blogging

star Abdul Wali really gave me confidence & boost

But my freelancing work, my studies, and my other explorations kept me

busy - I was a teenager and not much interested in money anyways. It's
not that the financial condition of my family was good - it was just not my
priority back then.

But then I started listening to various self-help and motivational speakers

like Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins, Les Brown, Bob Proctor, and others, and
with my increasing age came the increasing urge of earning money and
building wealth as well.

Then I created a blog - a blog on quotes, just like everybody else.

www.theblogginglab.org
This blog was an intense learning experience for me - from buying a
domain, connecting it with the hosting, deciding between Blogger &
WordPress, and then tweaking every bit of WordPress was a big learnings
experience for me.

Then there was keyword research, various tools to learn, and obviously
the scaring on-page and off-page SEO as well.

It was challenging, was difficult, but it was fun & rewarding as well.

But you know what was missing in all of this?

Any guesses?

It was the role of a teacher, a mentor whom I can get my work reviewed
from.

It didn't go really well until I requested a really humble and good human
being, Ahmad Kamal, to be my teacher and review the work so that I got
the results I was really looking for.

And this I believe, is the ultimate benefit that you can get from a teacher,
a mentor, and a guide.

www.theblogginglab.org
From there I took the speed and built multiple blogs, to keep them for
long-term passive income, and now I am building more blogs as well to
flip them for a good profit as well.

Other than this, I provide SEO & Content management services to clients
as well to help them grow their blogs, business & products in terms of
gaining relevant organic traffic.

I am also providing organized, and systemized training via
