MEDIA COMPANY: Kal Tak ltd is an Indian media company focusing on broadcast and digital news

publication. The company was founded by Arjun Reddy in 1987. It is scaled to become India's most
trusted and repuchannel in the 80s and 90s. Its TRP increased manifold in the subsequent years.
However, in 2001 Kal tak was accused of publishing false and baseless articles about the then ruling
party PJB which resulted in dissatisfaction among the public and Kal Tak viewers gradually declined.
Viewers had reason enough to believe that it was politically inclined to the opposing party. However,
over the next 5 years, Kal Tak took active steps to change its perception amongst their customers.
They changed the Vice president of the company, renewed and reinforced their policies and brought
in younger journalists for a fresh outlook on current affairs. Later, Kal Tak had once again become an
esteemed and well-distinguished news channel.

Kal Tak took a recent vested interest in the Airline Patang Air after finding discrepancies in the
annual report. They assigned reporters to follow the CEO of Patang Air, Lata Roy. In the following
weeks, the reporters were able to get explicit pictures of Lata Roy with the MD of Alliance bank Kabir
Singh at his residence in Mumbai. Eventually, Kal Tak released articles about the ongoing affair
between the CEO of Patang air and the MD of Alliance Bank. Following this Lata Roy and Kabir Singh
sued the media company on the grounds of violation of privacy. Furthermore, the publication was
exposed for taking bribes from a manufacturing company “Python technologies” in exchange for
providing positive publicity through news articles. This publicity misled PatangAir air into entering
into a contractual agreement with Python Technologies for the purchase of aircrafts. However, the
discovery of faulty parts on behalf of PatangAir pressed them to file a lawsuit against Kal Tak for
misinformation.

This continues to have a drastic impact on Kal Tak’s TRP, as the other media companies have taken
over in terms of viewership and reliability. It doesn’t stop here for Kal Tak. In 2021, A female
employee brought to notice disparities in the payment of salaries on part of the HR manager. She
discovered that her salary was below that of her male counterpart, and also discovered that in 33
cases women were being underpaid. Of these, in 24 cases, both female and male employees had
equal qualifications. Protests were subsequently held, turnover increased by 18% that year, and the
policies of the company were brought under question by the employees, as well as the public.
