    Language is central to argumentation, as the strength of a student's argument depends how he or


    she uses language to convey key relationships among ideas, provide clear support, and signal
    coherent reasoning.

    process: judgments of the speaker, message comprehension or recall, or attitude toward the
    message. Numerous studies have focused on judgments of the speaker.
