Sleman Traditional Market is a traditional market located in Kalakijo, Triharjo, Sleman. It is

on the west side of Jalan Magelang and next to the Sleman Big Mosque (Masjid Besar
Sleman). It has 3.201m2 building area with 7 toilets, 1 prayer room (mushola), and 3 security
office. This traditional market doesn’t have a parking lot, so visitors usually park their vehicle
on the side of the road nearby. There are more than 50 sellers selling various kinds of goods,
start from vegetables, fish, cakes, fruits, books, clothes, and much more.

This traditional market consists of two buildings, the old and the new building. The old
building of this traditional market is a very old market with a cast floor. In the old building
the sellers still use some old wood table and chair, even some of them still sit on the ground
and display their goods on a sack. The new building of Sleman Traditional Market has much
better appereance rather than the old one. It has white ceramic floor and ceramic table. The
new building has two floors, the 1st floor is a vegetable stall, and the 2 nd floor is where the
people are selling fish.

When we compared this traditional market and supermarkets in common, this traditional
market is indeed more dirty, smelly, and messy. But in this traditional market, the price is
much cheaper compared to supermarkets. Buyers can bargain the price until they make a
good deal. Those are why lots of people are coming to shop in this traditional market every
day from 3am to 2pm.
