EXPLAIN THE BASIC CONCEPTS AND PRINCIPLES OF
EDUCATIONAL ASSESSMENT:
Assessment plays a vital role in the teaching process. It
involves setting explicit student learning goals or outcomes
for an academic program; evaluating the extent to which
students are reaching those goals; and using the
information for program development and improvement.
Assessment is defined as a process for documenting, in
measurable terms, the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and
beliefs of the learner. Assessment is the collection of
relevant information that may be relied on for making
decisions is defined assessment as “a related series of
measures used to determine complex attribute of an
individual or group of individuals.
Principles and indicators are meant to give guidance to
what's the right thing to do. And in education assessment, it
is to improve student learning. Assessment systems provide
useful information about whether students have reached
important learning goals and about the progress of each
student. Serve as support system to their learning. By
utilizing procedures that enable significant learning,
assessment systems track, certify, and give information for
school accountability and improvement. It is for the
student's equality. All pupils are treated fairly through
assessment systems, which include the instruments, policies,
procedures, and uses. In order to avoid limiting students'
chances in the now and the future, assessment methods
make sure that all pupils are treated fairly. They enable for a
variety of approaches to evaluate students' progress as well
as a variety of yet equal means for students to communicate
their understanding. Assessments are fair and represent the
actual knowledge of each student. For collaboration &
teamwork. Knowledgeable and impartial educators are
necessary for high caliber assessment. The success of
assessment systems depends on educators who comprehend
the complete range of assessment objectives, employ a
number of relevant approaches correctly, collaborate
effectively, and engage in continual professional
development to advance their assessment skills. Colleges of
education do a good job of preparing teachers and other
educators for evaluating a diverse student population.
Teachers choose their own professional development
opportunities, take part in it, and collaborate to further their
craft. Overall the principles and indicators gives a clear
information of how education greatly motivating & helpful
to the students.
DISCUSS ON THE ROLE OF ASSESSMENT IN MAKING INSTRUCTIONAL
DECISIONS TO IMPROVE TEACHING & LEARNING:

We all know that assessment exist as it enhances

learning in the instructional processes if the result
provides feedbacks to both students and teachers.
Teachers are expected to assess students in the
classroom before, during, or even after lessons. The
teacher's assessment data is used to inform
instructional decisions. Teachers must understand
when and why they wish to assess students. The goal
of the pretest/pre-assessment is to determine the
students' prior knowledge and skills, and the
findings can be utilized by the teachers to determine
where the lesson should begin. Assessments
completed for placement can also be used as a basis
for developing relevant lesson plans. Instructors are
often worried about the kids or children who are
experiencing learning difficulties. The assessment is
always conducted while the student is studying. The
instructor uses a lot of the assessment information to
diagnose and address the student's learning issues.
Following the identification of such learning issues,
the instructor implements various corrective
measures. Short quizzes collect assessment
information that helps teachers improve their
lessons. The formative assessment provides ongoing
input to the teachers and students on various topics.
success and failure lessons Formative assessment
concentrates on narrow and manageable
conversation topics. This form of assessment is
typically given at the conclusion of a course or
instructional unit to gauge the degree to which the
students have mastered the learning goals.
Instructors offer grades and marks based on the
assessment data they have collected.
Assessment is a two-way process of communicating
by the teacher and learners.
