1”, it is stated that assessment of learning to strategies designed to confirm what
students know, demonstrate whether or not they have met curriculum outcomes or the
goals of their individualized programs, or to certify proficiency and make decisions
about students’ future programs or placements.

When learners know and understand these principles, the quality of learning will
improve. Sharing this information with learners will promote ownership of the learning
aims and a sense of shared responsibility between the teacher and learner to achieve
those aims. Improving learners’ confidence and self-esteem reflects positively in
learners’ work and their motivation is improved.

THE OUTCOME-BASED EDUCATION

An OBE curriculum means starting with a clear picture of what is important for
students to be able to do, then organizing the curriculum, instruction and assessment
to make sure this learning ultimately happen clarity of focus. OBE is a powerful for
curriculum planning, as a means of making informed and learning is adopted, and as a
basis for the assessment of students/trainees and of the education program itself.
Under OB teachers can use any objective grading system they choose, including letter
grades.

Formative Assessment refers to a wide variety of methods that teachers use to

student learning to provide ongoing feedback that can be used by instructors to
improve their teaching and by students to improve their learning.

Types of Reliability

A. Stability is the test-retest reliability scores to obtain from to two administrations of

the same test over a period of time. It is used to determine the stability of test results
over time. Results are compared and correlated with the initial test to give a measure
of stability.
B. Equivalent is parallel forms of reliability ascertain the equivalency of forms. In this
method, two different versions of an assessment tool are administered to the same
group of individual.

The teachers’ role in society is both essential and significant. Having the
greatest influence over the students and the community, they are expected to play the
lead roles in the building of an intelligent and responsible citizenry. They perform
various roles and responsibility in a society as the architect of the future generation.

Teachers’ of the 21st century will witness the evolution of their professional
roles will be more complex and challenging. They will no longer be transmitter of
knowledge. They will be facilitators of learning. They will set the goals and organize
the learning process accordingly towards the realization of these goals.

Teachers will develop among the students the ability to gain information and to
use and select them. Technology will be their partner in the process. Hence, teachers
should be information and technology experts. They should also be prepared to act as
technicians and troubleshooters when the need arises.

Nature and Roles of Assessment

As teachers and students work towards the achievement of curriculum

outcomes, assessment plays a constant role in informing instruction, guiding the
student’s next steps, and checking progress and achievement.

Assessment is likely linked with learning process. Similarly, it unites with the
course of study and teaching. For keeping a check on students’ progress and
achievement course of study play a constant role. Also, the teacher and students work
to achieve the outcomes of the course of study.

Assessment plays an important role in the process of learning and motivation.

Well-designed assessment methods provide valuable information about student
learning. They tell us what students learned, how well they learned it and where they
struggled.
