PowerTitan Transport Instruction

1 Brief Introduction
This guide focuses on the precautions and handling of Battery Energy Storage Systems
(BESS) during transport.

Failure to transport the product in accordance with the requirements in this manual may
invalidate the warranty.

2 Transport Methods
BESS can be transported by road, sea, and rail. The BESS is highly integrated and easy
to hoist, which facilitates its transport. Currently, BESS is not permitted for air transport
and there is no specific guidance on rail transport.

BESS leaves its manufacturing factory by truck. While domestic shipments can be made
using only trucks, cross-country shipments usually require a combination of
truck-ship-truck transport. In this case, the cargo needs to be transferred from the truck to
the ship at or near the port of destination and vice versa.

In most cases, the total weight of the truck and the cargo exceeds the limits allowed by
general roads. In such cases, an overweight permit from the country or region of
transport may be required.

3 Crating Before Transport

Since the BESS container is not a standard size, it is required to put the container into
SUNGROW's special standard container frame before shipping.

Loading steps are as follows.

Tool Preparation

A B C D
No. Name Component source

A Ladder, at least 2 meters long Not included in the scope of supply.

B The corner fittings Included in the scope of supply.

C Screws(M12x30) Included in the scope of supply.

D L-shaped angle steels Included in the scope of supply.

Installation Method

Use slings with clevis fasteners to hoist the BESS into the frame box.

1
 The tangs of clevis fasteners must be secured in the place.

 Two cranes are recommended for hoisting since the center of gravity of the BESS
is not completely centered, and slings used should be longer than 5 m.

 Strictly observe all safety operation standards and regulations of the

country/region where the project is located during hoisting.

Fix the bottom of BESS to the bottom of the transport frame using M12x30 bolts and
L-shaped angle steel with a recommended torque of 60~70 N.m.

Fix the top of BESS to the top of the transport frame using M12x30 bolts and corner
fittings with a recommended torque of 60~70 N.m.

3
4 Precautions for Transportation
All devices in the BESS have been installed and fixed before leaving the factory, and they
can be hoisted and transported as a whole during transportation.

In the whole process of loading, unloading, and transportation, the safe operation
regulations of BESS in the country/region where the project is located must be
observed!

 All tools used for the BESS and during operation shall be properly maintained.

 All personnel engaged in loading, unloading and anchoring should have received
relative training, especially in safety.

During the whole process of loading, unloading and transportation, the mechanical
parameters (overall dimensions and weight) of the BESS should always be kept in mind.

4.1 Hoisting

 All cabinet doors are locked.

 Select appropriate crane or lifting tool according to the site conditions. The lifting tool
used shall have a sufficient load bearing capacity, boom length and radius of rotation.

 Remove all obstacles that exist or may exist on the way, such as tree branches,
cables, etc.

 The BESS should be lifted vertically. Never drag the container on the ground or on the
top of the lower container, and never pull and push it on any surface.

 When the BESS has been hoisted for about 300mm from the ground, stop to check if
all the connections are still firm. After confirmation, continue hoisting the BESS.

 Ensure that the BESS is steady and not tilting during lifting.

 When the BESS is in place, place it lightly and smoothly. It is strictly forbidden to
throw it to places outside the vertical landing place.

 Additional traction may be required if BESS needs to be transported on slopes.

 The BESS should be transported and moved under good weather conditions.

 Be sure to set up warning signs or warning area to prevent non-staff from entering the
lifting area to avoid accidents.
4.2 Sea Freight

 During shipping, the BESS must be placed in the transportation frame to avoid
excessive tilt of the BESS during transportation.

 The number of stacking layers of BESS must not exceed 5.

 Heavy-lift multi-purpose ship is used (container ship is more suitable, but some
shipping companies do not accept this kind of cargo such as COSCO, CMA), the
three-deck BOX type is arranged in the cabin. The ship is designed for multi-purpose
type, and there are twist lock interfaces on the deck and inner deck specially for the
20-foot/40-foot container space. The designed load capacity of the deck is 8-10
tons/square meter, which meets the requirements of loading heavy containers and
heavy lifts.

 The calling port is equipped with special tools for container loading and discharging.
Shore crane lifting capacity in both loading and discharging port can reach 40 tons,
and the ship crane lifting capacity can reach 640 tons, which is far greater than cargo
gross eight and tare weight.

 The shipping company's own multi-purpose ship decks and cabins have twist lock
interfaces which fit with 20-foot/40-foot container. After heavy containers are loaded
into the ship, each container can be reinforced with special reinforcement locks and
tie rods. The reinforcement process can reach the same level of reinforcement of the
box on container ships.

 According to the calling rotation and the characteristics of dangerous goods, the SOC
tank of this project is planned to be stowed on the port/starboard main deck and hatch
cover. The stacking height is 2 layers, and the number of stacking layers is lower than
the current average level of 5 layers compared with container vessel.

4.3 Land Transport

 The cabinet doors should be fully locked.

 When the BESS is transported with the frame box, connect the lashing points on the
frame box to the fixing points on the transport vehicle by steel ropes.

 The frame box can be disassembled for land transport, and it is necessary to connect
the lashing points on the product to the fixing points on the transport vehicle by steel
ropes to avoid excessive tilting during transportation.

 The load should be evenly balanced in transportation, and stacking is strictly

prohibited.

 Moisture-proof and wet-proof covers such as the tarpaulin should be prepared.

5 Road Transport
Operation Steps

Fix hooks at the bottom corners of the frame box and hoist the product from the
bottom.

Hoist the BESS with frame box to the transport vehicle, and place them lightly and
smoothly at the target position. It is strictly forbidden to throw it to places outside the
vertical landing place.

Connect the lashing points on the frame box to the fixing points on the transport
vehicle by steel ropes.

Cover the product with moisture-proof and wet-proof materials such as the
tarpaulin.

6 Land Transport to Sea Transport

According to the shipping schedule, ordinary cargo containers can be temporarily placed
in the yard of the terminal. Dangerous goods containers need to be temporarily dropped
to the public storage yard of dangerous goods in the port, and then arrange for customs
declaration.

When loading, the dangerous goods containers will be transferred from the public storage
yard to the side of the ship for loading. Considering that the SOC cabinets of this project
are dangerous goods of category UN3536,9, operation details as follow:

The factory will deliver the goods from Hefei to the designated social storage yard
outside port by the freight forwarder. The transportation vehicle from Hefei to the
port is arranged by the factory.

According to the actual shipping schedule, the freight forwarder arranges

dangerous goods vehicles to transfer the containers from the social storage yard
outside the port to the public storage yard of dangerous goods in the port (referred
to as the public storage yard).

After the container is dropped, the port area sends the container arrival information,
and the freight forwarder can arrange customs declaration/inspection declaration.

When loading is started, the container will be delivered to the port side then cargo
will be loaded on board.

The port is equipped with special tools for container loading and discharging.

The shipping company's own multi-purpose ship decks and cabins have twist lock
interfaces which fit with 20-foot/40-foot container. After heavy containers are loaded
into the ship, each container can be reinforced with special reinforcement locks and
tie rods.

Port Dangerous Goods Declaration Process: For this project, the dangerous goods
number UN 3536 and the dangerous goods registration IMO CLASS 9 have been
registered with the Port Maritime Safety Administration when the prototype was shipped.
Subsequent shipments of general type products to the port can be directly declared for
dangerous goods with the MSDS provided by the manufacturer and the container
certificate issued by China Classification Society without the dangerous package
certificate.

7 Sea Transport to Land Transport

Discharging process: The terminal has a container yard. After the ship is berthed, the
terminal will unload the container cargo to the container yard. When customs clearance is
completed and goods is released, consignee can apply to terminal to pick up goods.

Delivery process Consignee exchange Delivery order against endorsed BLs from local

shipping agency then contacts the CITY DOCK to settle the port charges with the
shipping agent's delivery order and the local customs release, and apply for a pick-up.
The terminal determines the delivery time according to the production operation plan, and
the consignee and forwarder follow this plan to pick up container.

If the terminal is currently crowded in the yard, and it takes about 1-2 weeks for
containers to be picked up after containers are unloaded.

PowerTitan's frame boxes can be disposed of in the following ways after arriving at the
destination port by sea.

 Under a DDP agreement, SUNGROW would dispose of the frame box at the
destination port.

 Under a CIF or a FOB agreement, the customer would dispose of frame boxes.

To reduce the freight costs of the frame boxes, we propose to dismantle the frame
boxes at the port and sell them to the recycling company in the form of profiled bars.
The steel type of the frame box is weathering steel spa-h and the total weight is
about 3.4 tons.
