HW 411: Wellness for Women

COURSE INFORMATION COURSE DESCRIPTION

This three-week course is developed to help women take control of all


COURSE NAME areas of their wellness. Broad topics that will be covered in this course
HW 411: Wellness for Women include nutrition, yoga and mindfulness, and areas of wellness – all geared
toward women. This course aims to teach women how to take care of

HW 411-1: Women’s Nutrition

o Sex-specific nutrition
o Daily nutritional requirements
o Vitamins and supplements for general health
o Diet and cravings
o Activity: make a healthy snack

HW 411-2: Yoga for Women

o Beginning a yoga practice


o Meditation/mindfulness and yoga
o Yoga studios in the area
o Benefits of yoga for women
o Activity: 10-minute yoga for self-care

HW 411-3: Creating & Cultivating Wellness

o Dimensions of wellness
o Activity: evaluate areas of wellness
o Setting and achieving goals
o Activity: set a SMART wellness goal

COURSE OUTCOMES

HW 411-1: Learn the general nutritional guidelines for women and how vitamins, herbs, and supplements
can aid in women’s health. Learn food handling and cooking tips to create nutritious meals.

HW 411-2: Understand how yoga and other complementary and integrative medicine practices can be
beneficial for women’s health. Learn how to incorporate yoga into one’s life. Actively engage in a yoga class.

HW 411-3: Learn the areas of wellness that make up general well-being. Understand how to evaluate these
areas in one’s life and further develop goals to improve these areas.
