Job Summary:
Cold Formed Steel Designer will design, and/or facilitate the execution of new structural designs in cold
formed steel elements (CFS) according to projects requirements as directed by the CFS Engineering
Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Capable of managing detailers on projects

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Prepare engineering reports, designs, and drawings.
• Make calculations about loads and stresses.
• Obtain AHJ approval where relevant on projects
• Analyze configurations of both components of and the complete structure.
• Coordinate with other professional staff such as modelers and engineers.
• Conduct periodic site visits as needed for project requirements
• Conduct site evaluations of existing conditions on projects.
• Use Tekla Structures and Autodesk Revit as required for the generation of design drawings.
• Utilize available structural analysis software.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Professionally licensed preferred but not required. If not licensed, must have the ability to
become licensed within 1 year
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
• Understanding of prefabrication approaches and strategies
• Sound understanding of physics and mathematics.
• Ability to liaise with professionals from other disciplines.
• Three-dimensional conceptual skills.
• Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Track and report on project progress.
• Collaborate with contractors and clients.
• Occasional travel required, generally once every 4 to 6 weeks.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering
• 3-5 years of structural engineering experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Reporting:
• Reports to the Cold Formed Engineering Manager
