2. A description of the problem and the objectives

Problem which faced with various processing times in each station that cause bottleneck in general
with assembly station.

Objectives

Realiszing the reasons that cause less in production (bottleneck, processing time), and develop new
strategy for production line.

…analysing the output data which give deep understanding of whole process. therefore, modeller be
able to develop the model.

3. The solution space; what factor/factors should be experimented with?

_timing is important factor, therefore adjusting the time processing in various stations to get
harmony between them, will increase production.

_workers are the weakness point in production line. for two reasons, first the physical ability is
limited (Fully automated production line is better). second worker is not expert to handle with
sudden stations issue.

more training is required to avoid problems.

_ Employing advanced technology in stations and transportation between stations saves time
processing and effort, so increases productivity.

_line production need tow assembly stations to get rid of the bottleneck.

Of course, you have to experiment multiple times to discover the best method.

4. Defined outputs; what factor/factors should the experimentation compared to? For example,
throughput per hour, working portion of a machine etc. The output does not have to be visualized
with graphs.

_The processing time: at all stations must correspond each other’s, with considering assembly
station particularly because its bottleneck. So, comparing changes in processing time with desired
results to determine how to increase the productivity and reduce variation.

_Throughput: numbers of each parts produced each hour (top table, legs. Simple or elegant) mast
compared to each time makes any change for at decide the best change, that achieve rise in
production.

_Usage: The use of key equipment and resources should be compared to determine whether the
changes have increased efficiency.
_Setup Time: sawing station, a comparison should be made to see if a change has reduced the time
required to change between table types.

5. The model contents. What are your assumptions and simplifications? What should be included
and excluded? How shall the distributions be chosen? Etc.

The model contents: stations, assembly station, transportation, Equipment, Technology, Worker,
Set-up Time, and processing time.

Assumptions and Simplifications

I assume that model must be more clarity and simple for at avoid too many of changes and make
model more understandable therefore easier to adjustable.

In specific point, processing time must not be the same for all station in consideration of assembly
station processing time, that will be clearly create an issue and complex the process.

The model should contain all the important data required for the process which directly affect the
productivity.

Assembly station, equipment, labour, setup time and processing time.

Excluded : the model should not contain any unnecessary details such as worker time included in the
processing time of the station.

The distribution: should provide a clear picture of the variation in processing time and other vectors.
The distribution can be chosen as normal or uniform distribution or any other distribution which give
best result.
