POLITICAL LEADERSHIP

"The process of taking charge of a team or organisation.". Simply put, leadership involves taking
chances and questioning the status quo. Leaders inspire followers to accomplish something greater
and new. Success is determined by examining the accomplishments and knowledge gained by the
team. In an organisation, leaders aren't usually those with greater positions. These are individuals,
though, who are renowned for their morals and work ethics.

The fundamentals of being able and ready to motivate others are represented by leadership. Ideas,
both original and borrowed, that are communicated to others in a way that engages them enough to
act as the leader wants them to are the foundation of effective leadership. They need to be likeable
enough for people to take their lead, and they need to be capable of critical thinking in order to
know how to make the most use of the resources available to an organisation.

The Latin term communis, which means to use common sense, is where the English word
"communication" comes from. When we talk about communication, we mean having same ideas.
Or, the exchange of information, including facts, ideas, views, sentiments, and attitudes. Political
communication refers to the development and interchange of concepts and viewpoints among
citizens, elected officials, political organisations, and connected organisations like the media. It
covers political discourse in local, state, national, and international political systems as well as the
use of information and language for political advantage and the pursuit of political
objectives. Authoritarian, democratic, and laissez-faire (no leadership, lack of leadership) leadership
communication styles are categorised very clearly and easily by Hackman and Johnson. The manner
of communication is based on the leader's dominant leadership style.

The assertive communication style is characterised by recognition of other people, negotiation, and
the capacity for compromise.A person who communicates in this way is straightforward and honest
in their communication and is a good listener. On the other side, a basic feature of the aggressive
communication style is an absence of listening, domineering, and even abuse of the other
participants in the communication scenario, as well as the speaker's use of a mocking tone and a
know-it-all attitude. The third type of communication style, known as passive communication, gives
the impression that the speaker is unsure and even afraid. His or her messages are also full of
uncertainty, which can be expressed in language by hesitation markers like as well as hedges. The
following are the steps required in creating a communication plan.

1. Identifying the target audience.

This comprises: describing who they are, including their demographics and the area they come from,
etc. Knowing their problems will help you develop persuasive campaign messaging.A voter
identification campaign will provide you with information on past affiliations and voting patterns
that will enable you to segment your audience (supporters, undecided, etc.) and tailor your
content. This information aids you in choosing the most effective communication method and its
goal, which are the following two actions.

2. Determining the most crucial lines of communication

The next step is to identify the information channels that your target audience uses. For
instance:adverts in newspapers and on television targeted at those over 50.For young adults,
generally between the ages of 18 and 30, social media.Social networking and email are best for
persons between the ages of 30 and 50.This aids in prioritising the political communication channels
you need to pay attention to.

3. Outlining the goals

Although the goal is the same, each channel will use a different strategy to reach it. Thus setting
goals for each of them will enable you to concentrate your efforts more effectively. For
illustration:Using social media to spread the word and encourage people to share the message can
help it gain greater exposure.Use television advertisements to introduce and pique the interest of a
large audience in your candidature.Texting or contacting supporters to stay in touch and remind
them to take action (such casting a ballot, volunteering, or making a donation, for example).New
supporters will join the voyage through each channel. You'll support them and guide them towards
the end goal based on their level of engagement.

4. Developing channel-specific techniques

The strategies for each channel of communication would vary because they all operate differently.
For illustration:Advertisements for candidates receiving endorsements on television are more
credible than those in which the candidates speak for themselves.

Paid social media advertising have excellent targeting capabilities, but social media offers more
accurate demographic targeting, making them more individualised.

Peer to peer texting, as opposed to text blasts, helps engage supporters more effectively by allowing
volunteers to respond to their questions and solve any issues they may have.

A successful leader who can easily distinguish between success and failure will be someone with
strong political leadership abilities. A successful leader has a big dream and knows how to make his
dreams come true in the contemporary era. Let's examine some of the abilities needed for effective
political leadership.

1.Excellent communicator

You won't have much luck getting the outcomes you want unless you make your team aware of your
vision and explain the plan of action. Simply said, you can never be a competent leader if you can't
properly convey your message to your team. Words have the power to inspire people and inspire
them to achieve the unthinkable. You can also get better results if you are using them effectively.

2. Integrity and Honesty

A strong leader must have integrity and honesty, in that order. If you disregard these traits, how can
you expect integrity from your supporters? Leaders succeed because they adhere to their core
values, and that is impossible without ethics.
Decision-maker 3.

A leader should be able to select the appropriate course of action when necessary. The decisions
made by leaders have a significant impact on individuals. Before making a decision, a leader should
give it careful consideration, but once made, they should stick with it.

4.The ability to motivate others

Convincing people to follow a leader is arguably the most difficult task. Only by setting a good
example and motivating your followers will this be accomplished. When times are rough, we look up
to them and observe how they behave. You should have an upbeat outlook as a leader, and your
actions should reflect this mindset. A leader should maintain composure under pressure and
maintain some level of motivation.

5.Task allocation must be done well

Effective leadership requires concentrating on core responsibilities while delegating the rest. By this,
I mean giving your followers responsibility and authority. A lack of trust may develop between you
and your staff if you try to micromanage them, and you won't be as willing to work as hard on
important tasks as you should be. It is important to assign the subordinates various tasks and
monitor their performance. Give them all the resources and assistance they require to achieve the
goal, and let them take on responsibility.

6. A person with goals and aspirations

Effective leaders have goals and a plan. They are able to envision the future and share their
aspirations with their supporters. Their supporters could comprehend where they are going if they
could grasp the bigger picture. A strong leader explains the rationale behind the direction they are
taking and outlines the strategy and course of action to achieve the goal.

First and foremost, a political leader should represent their government, not simply themselves.
Knowing that politics may be difficult and nasty, a strong leader must strike a balance between doing
what is right for the country and upholding the maxim "the nation before self."
