2. Draining
CAUTION : The draining operation is carried out when cold.

Place the vehicle on a lift.

Raise the vehicle.
Remove the shield under the power train.
Lower the vehicle.
N.B. : Place a tray under the radiator to drain the circuit cleanly.

Remove the cap from the expansion tank.

Cooling radiator (With drain screw) : Unscrew the radiator drain plug (3).

Cooling radiator (Without drain screw) : Disconnect the radiator bottom hose (4) (Use tool [2]) .

Open the bleed screw (1) of the heat exchanger pipe .

Open the bleed screw (2) of the coolant outlet unit .

Raise the vehicle.

Drain the engine by removing the plug (5) : On bulkhead side (At the rear of the engine) .
The plug is located under the pipe running from the water outlet housing to the coolant pump .
If necessary : If necessary use an extender, a universal joint and a 8,0 mm square adaptor.

3. Filling and bleeding the system

Before any re-filling operation, flush the cooling circuit with clean water.
Close the bleed screws (1 - 2).
Refit the drain plug(s) (5) and one (of the) new seal(s).
Tighten the cap (5) to 3.0 ± 0.3 da.Nm.
CAUTION : Ensure that the lower pipe on the radiator is in place.

Check the cooling system for leaks.

Fit the filling cylinder [1] to the filler opening.

Open the bleed screws .
Fill the circuit slowly with coolant.
Close the bleed screws when the liquid flows without bubbles.
The filling cylinder must be filled to the 1,0 litre mark to bleed the heater matrix correctly.
Start the engine.
Maintain a speed between 1500 and 2000 rpm until the end of the second cooling cycle (the cooling
fan(s) cutting in then stopping) while keeping the filling cylinder full to the 1 litre mark.
Remove the filling cylinder [1].
Immediately tighten the plug on the expansion chamber .
Stop the engine.
Engine cold : If necessary fill up to the level of the maximum mark.
Refit the shield under the power train.
