1. Alternator Specification :-

 Model : C 18
 S/N : 8HG01952
 Power : 437 KVA

2. INSPECTION SUMMARY: As received

- Alternator received in assembled condition.

- DE bearing found defected.

- Main Stator and rotor found dusty and oily.

- Rotor & stator excitation winding test found accepted but had signs of
friction

- Stator magnetic field Exciter winding defected.

- DE bearing seat (sleeve box) damage.

- PMG lamination had signs of friction.

3. Failure causes :

- Environmental stresses— The presence of foreign material can contaminate

insulation of rotor & stator winding and also may reduce the rate of heat
dissipation.

- DE bearing seat tolerance (sleeve box) damage.

4. SCOPE OF WORK: As recommended:

STATOR :

- Cleaning of the ventilation channels, magnetic circuit and cage through

repetitive air blowing and high pressure steams washing .

- Drying in the self-ventilating oven under controlled temperature for 16

hours.

- Winding insulation according to the insulation class

ROTOR :

- Cleaning of magnetic circuit through repetitive air blowing and high

pressure steam cleaning.

- Drying in the self- ventilating oven under controlled temperature for 16

Hours.

- Fabricated or replacement new sleeve Bearing seat

- Replacement of the ball bearings for the DE side.

- Certification release.
