TPS-555 12V/TPS-555 24V

SOLAR CHARGE REGULATOR

USER’S MANUAL

Introduction:

Solar Charge Regulator is designed to control the charge from the solar panel into the battery and the
power drawn from the battery to outputs.

Chart of Solar Power kit:

Please note that any DC application that

requires more than 30 amps should be
connected to the battery

Main Features:
 TPS-555 12V/TPS-555 24V Solar Charge Regulator is able to handle charge and discharge from
either 12V battery or 24V battery (Different Model required).
 It provides over-charging, over-discharging and over-load protection. Therefore keeping the whole
solar system at proper working condition.
 This solar charge regulator uses the latest Microcomputer-chip for peak performance.
 PWM (pulse width modulation) charging circuit is used for higher efficiency.
 Big LCD display for easy monitoring.
 M4X20 Screws are advised when mounting regulator.

1. Use multi-strand insulated copper wire not less than Φ6mm2, bare strip 5mm at the end for
connection to the charge regulator. Make sure that all connections are secure and tight to reduce power
loss.

2. Battery should be connected to the port where shows “ ”. Please note that “+” stand for
positive pole, and “-” stands for negative pole. Make sure you connect with correct polarity.

3. DC load should be connected to the port where shows “ ” Please note that “+” stand for
positive pole, and “-” stands for negative pole. Make sure you connect with correct polarity.

4. Solar panel should be connected to the port where shows “ ” Please note that “+” stand for
positive pole, and “-” stands for negative pole. Make sure you connect with correct polarity.
5. Finally make sure that all connections are secure and correct.
How to disconnect and connect the charge regulator:
When connecting or disconnecting the charge regulator please follow the sequence below.

Disconnecting:
1. First disconnect the negative then the positive solar panel leads
2. Turn off “Load” on/off switch, then disconnect load.
3. Lastly disconnect the negative then the positive connections from battery do not disconnect battery
before disconnecting solar panel.

Connecting:
1. First connect regulator to battery, positive lead then negative lead
2. Then connect solar panel to regulator Positive lead then negative lead
3. Finally, connect any lights or 12V appliances (if any).
In order to make sure the regulator is working correctly please comply with the above mentioned
installation procedure.

How to use the regulator:

The Display Shift Button works in a cycle pattern. By pressing the bottom, LCD will switch in
between the three different models as below.

Battery voltage

Output current to load Solar charge current

Display Shift Button “▲” “ ” Load on/off switch

Mode 1: when you press“▲”, LCD screen

shows the working voltage of the battery,
following as an example:
When press “ ”bottom at this model, it
will not change what is being display on the
LCD.

Model 2:when you press“▲”again, the LCD

Screen shows the output current from battery to When press “ ”bottom at this model
load. 1. When the load output is under ON status,
LCD will show output current from
Following as an example: battery to load.

2. When the load output is under OFF status,

LCD will show 00.0A.

3. If over discharge protection is activated,

the load output will be cut off if you press

“ ”under such status, it is invalid

and buzzer will go off.

4. If system recover from over-discharge or

over load protection, pls press“ ”

twice to reactivate the load output function
Model 3:when you press“▲”again, the LCD
Screen shows the charging current from the
solar panel to the battery. Following as an
example: When press “ ”bottom at this model, it
will not change what is being display on the
LCD.

Warning and Notice:

1. When using the solar system make sure that the voltage of battery and the voltage of the solar panel match.
The max power of the solar panel can be used for TPS-555 12V should be 360 W/12V, and for TPS-555 24V
should be 720W/24V.
2. Please do not touch clamps or any bare strip lead wire of solar panel to prevent the chance of electric shock.
3. Please cover the surface of solar panel during the installation process to prevent the chance of electric shock.
4. Input current from the solar panel should not exceed the Max solar input current limit of the regulator.
5. The charge regulator is NOT waterproof keep away from direct contact with rain or water.
6. Place the charge regulator in a cool ,dry ,ventilated position for safety purposes avoid direct sunlight, hot
surfaces, dust or moisture.

Trouble Shooting:

1. No output: Check load is connected correctly and secure. Check working current is within the Max output
current limit.
2. Will not charge: Check connection of the solar panel, battery and regulator is secure.
3. Current keeps changing: This situation is normal, and is due to the pulse width modulation method of
charging.
