a. Fiction – stories are not real and exist only in the imagination.
b. Non – fiction – stories tell about happenings in real life.

KINDS OF NOUNS
Nouns – are words that name persons, places, things, animals, events, and ideas.
Examples: girl Malou
region Bicol
car Toyota
Kinds of nouns
1. Common Nouns – refers to a general name for a person, a place, a thing, an event, or
an idea. It begins with a small letter.
Examples: singer, park, doll, dog, event
2. Proper Nouns – refers to a specific person, place, thing, or event. It begins with a
capital letter.
Examples: Sarah Geronimo, Rizal Park, Pia, Brownie, Christmas
There are four classifications of Nouns
a. Count Nouns – nouns that can be counted.
Examples: lady, flowers, toy, man, dress
b. Mass Nouns – can only be counted with the use of counters.
Examples: a tube of toothpaste a bottle of soy sauce 1 cup of flour
two kilos of sugar five liters of gasoline a pinch of salt
c. Abstract Nouns – names of ideas, thoughts, or actions that cannot be perceived by
senses.
Examples: truth love
Beauty hope
d. Concrete Nouns – are names of persons, animals, places, or things that can be
perceived by our five senses. The word “concrete” means “tangible” which means
solid or can be touched.
Examples: sky glass
