SHADA TABET

MSc Neuroscience, Faculty of Medicine.

University of Geneva.

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to you to express my great interest in joining the EPFL Blue Brain Project Team.

I am a second year Neuroscience MSc student at the University of Geneva. My research is affiliated with the Department of Paediatrics at the
Geneva University Hospital under Dr. Petra Huppi. Using advanced MRI techniques, I am currently assessing the effects of early music intervention
during NICU stay on preterm resting state functional connectivity (Rs-Fc). Specifically, I am examining the longitudinal Rs-Fc during music intervention of
preterm infants from 33 weeks gestation to term equivalent age (TEA), and I am going to compare that to the preterm control group that was not
exposed to music. I will also be comparing the Rs-Fc of preterm infants exposed to music during NICU at TEA, to full-term infants at birth. I have
accompanied my PhD supervisor, Joana Almeida, to the Center Developmental De L'enfant at HUG, to welcome parents and take their preterm babies to
the MRI division for data acquisition. I am responsible for completing the preprocessing and data analysis using MATLAB and SPM. I am also currently
conducting my internship project in the Hummel Lab (EPFL) at Campus Biotech under the supervision of Dr. Hummel, in which my project focuses on
assessing the effects of TMS stimulation on the visual cortex V1 and V5 loop, as well as assessing subject visual performance improvement after TMS
stimulation. During my internship, I strengthened my skills in fMRI data acquisition and preprocessing, as well as learned new skills in TMS acquisition
and EEG preprocessing and data analysis. I firmly believe that my research background makes me a strong candidate as a possible employee at EPFL Blue
Brain Project. Other than the rich research experience that I have gained so far during my MSc journey, the courses I took during my first and second
year have also strengthened my knowledge on neurodegenerative disease pathology, diagnoses; especially using brain imaging, and treatment.
Additionally, I have gained experience using the programming language Python and the theoretics of Machine Learning and AI while taking Michael
Dayan’s course: Introduction to Neuroimaging module of the Neuroimaging Data Science (NIDS) course.
I am confident that my experience and knowledge will be of great benefit to your esteemed research group. I would love the opportunity to
expand my research experience and add value to your team. I am looking for possible job opportunities for September 2022, as that will be when I would
have completed my MSc program. I am looking forward to meeting with you and discussing my experience in more detail. If you require any further
documentation, I would be happy to provide that for you.

Best Regards,
Shada Tabet.

EDUCATION
MSc Neuroscience
University of Geneva September 2020 – Present.
