Weekuri Lake is often called a hidden paradise in Sumba, which causes Weekuri Lake
to get this title because this lake is so beautiful and enchanting and is in a hidden area. Lake
Weekuri has an attraction that makes anyone curious to visit this lake, this uniqueness is the
color of the water, which is different in each area.

Lake weekuri is located in Kalenarogo Village, North Kodi District. Lake Weekuri,
which is bluish green in color, is a very unique and beautiful lake compared to lakes in
general because of its salty and brackish water content. Why is it salty? This is because this
lake is actually formed from the splash of sea air that penetrates the rocks to form a lagoon.
The name Weekuri itself comes from the Sumba language which means splashing water.

In addition to its salty water content, the unique thing is that this lake has several air source
points that can vary the color of the air in the lake, namely bright blue, slightly greenish blue,
and some even feel warm and cold. This uniqueness is very rarely found in other lakes in
Indonesia.
Clear blue water as clear as glass and the uniqueness of this lake is the main attraction for
visitors. Because the lake water is so clean, visitors can even see the bottom of the lake
directly with the naked eye. Isn't that cool?
Apart from its very clear water, the depth of Weekuri Lake itself is not deep enough, so it is
very suitable for visitors to play water or swim.
The coral cliffs that become the dividing wall between Lake Weekuri and the open ocean
make this place look like a giant pool. With the lips of the lake, there is a stretch of white
sand and green rocks and plants that also beautify the view of the lake.

From Waikabubak (the capital of West Sumba Regency) or Tambolaka (the capital of
Southwest Sumba Regency), visitors can first rent a motorized vehicle, either a motorbike /
car, in Tambolaka or Waikabubak. For car rental fees ranging from 500,000-600,000 rupiah,
the driver is included and for motorbike rental costs, which are around 100,000-150,000
rupiah per day.

limited budget funds. The staircase facilities have been made neatly to the rock that borders
the Weekuri lake with the open sea, so that visitors can freely surround Weekuri Lake for
selfies.

Bathroom and parking facilities are available so that visitors who have finished
bathing in Weekuri Lake can immediately clean themselves and change clothes which will be
followed by other relaxing events and shopping for authentic Sumba culture.

However, there are no food stalls, so there are only local residents who only sell food
such as snacks and drinks. And the facilities there too, such as photo spots on Lake Wekuri
also already exist, therefore tourists who visit there can enjoy the beauty of Lake Wekuri
while walking and taking pictures.

Around the lake, you can also see the indigenous people of Sumba who sell
handicrafts, ranging from turtle skin bracelets, katopo - a type of Sumba sharp weapon, to the
typical Sumba woven cloth which is claimed to be one of the gods' blankets.

But with all the uniqueness and natural beauty that is here, it's no wonder Lake Weekuri is
one of the adventure spots that many adventurers are looking for, both from within their own
country or abroad. And from that, tourists who visit there will not be bored to visit the lake
which is so beautiful and has many uniqueness.

Praijing Traditional Village is located in Tebara Village, Waikabubak District, West
Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. In this village there are 38 traditional Sumba
houses. Before experiencing a fire in 2000, there were 42 traditional houses in this village.
Praijing is three kilometers from downtown Waikabubak.
From a height, visitors can freely enjoy the city landscape of Waikabubak, which has natural
charm with green rice fields.
The traditional Sumba house is usually called Uma Bokulu or Uma Mbatangu. Uma Bokulu
means big house, while Uma Mbatangu means tower house.

Local figures say the traditional house in the village is divided into three parts. The
lower part (Lei Bangun) is used to raise livestock, the middle part (Rongu Uma) is for residents,
and the upper part or the tower (Uma Daluku) is used as a place to store food ingredients and
heirloom tools.
The local residents believe that Marapu lived and watched them from this tower, so that the
point received special treatment.

The majority of Sumbanese people embrace the Marapu belief - the original religion
that is still alive and practiced by the Sumba people.
