Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to bring the following announcements to your attention:

World Book Day: Pupils in all classes celebrated World Book Day on Thursday March 2 by dressing-up as
a character from a book that they had read. There were some fantastic costumes on show in all classes. All
pupils enjoyed various World Book Day activities and received a book token voucher.

Indoor Hurling and Camogie: Girls in 5th class and boys from 4th class competed in the Cumann na
mBunscol indoor hurling and camogie blitz’ recently held at Cratloe G.A.A. Hall. Both teams competed in
groups against Kilmurry N.S., Tulla N.S. and Cratloe N.S. Boys and girls gave some great performances and
we look forward to the outdoor season in both competitions.
Basketball: The 6th class girls basketball team qualified for phase 2 of the Marion Keane Memorial
competition with victories over Kilmurry, Tulla and Bridgetown N.S. On Monday March 6, they travelled to
Gurteen G.A.A.to take on Sixmilebridge and Killaloe Girls N.S. The Kilkishen girls recorded 2 more
victories qualifying for the semi-finals of the competition. Congratulations to all our girls and teacher Ms.
Eilís Whitney. Thank you also to Martina O’Hagan for her help coaching the team recently. Best of luck to
the girls in the semi-finals.

Senior School Soccer League: During the month of March, pupils from 4th-6th classes will take part in a
school soccer league. There are 8 teams and 49 pupils competing this year with matches taking place every
day during lunchtime. The school league finals day will take place on Friday March 31.Daily results,
fixtures and match reports will be available on our school website and twitter account. Best of luck to all
pupils taking part this year.
FAI 5-a-Side Soccer Competition: 5th and 6th class boys will travel to The Cragg, home of Tulla United, on
Tuesday March 6 and compete in the FAI 5-a-side school soccer competition. Our 5th and 6th class girls
teams will travel to Lee’s Road Ennis on Tuesday March 13 and take part in the girls competition. Kilkishen
N.S. will have two boys teams and 3 girls team compete in both events. Best of luck to all taking part.

Kilkishen Celtic Soccer: Kilkishen soccer club are entering an U9s Soccer team in the Clare league this
year. Currently training is held on Saturdays at Kilkishen N.S. If there are any more boys that would like to
join, the club would be delighted to get more players registered. Parents can text or watts app Steve

Parents Association Committee Quiz Night Fundraiser:Kilkishen

N.S. Parents Association Committee are holding a Quiz Night on
Friday March 16 starting at 8pm in aid of Kilkishen N.S. Astro-Turf
extension. All money raised on the night will support the planned 40m
x 40m extension to the school Astroturf. A table of three costs €40 and
there will be prizes for the top three teams. All donations and support
to this school fundraiser are greatly appreciated. Donations for the
Quiz Night raffle can be dropped to the school before or after school.

Cash For Clobber: Thank you to everyone that supported the recent PAC fundraiser held between Monday
the 20th of February to Thursday the 23rd of February .

Aldi-Play Rugby Stickers: Thank you to all that

have sent stickers from Aldi in the hope of
winning €50,000 and some great prizes for the
school. Anyone that shops in Aldi, please send the
stickers into school to complete our two Play
Rugby School Entry Posters. We have completed
one full poster and ¾ of our second entry. Thank
you for your support.

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2023: Tá Seachtain na Gaelige 2023 ar súil idir an 1ú-17ú de Márta i mbliana. Bíonn
daltaí i ngach rang ag glacadh páirt in eachtraí eagsúla le tacaíocht Seachtain na Gaeilge 2023. Beidh Tráth
na gCéíst le daltaí i rang a 4 go dtí rang a 6 ar súil Deardaoin 16ú de Márta. Beidh duaiseanna le foirne a
chríochnóidh sa chéad, sa dara agus sa tríú háit. Bí ar gach daoine iarracht gaeilge a labhairt níos mó sa
bhaile agus ar scoil i rith Seachtian na Gaeilge. Bain trial as.

Dates for your Diary:

 Meeting for Parents of Confirmation Candidates: Bernie Torpey is holding a meeting for 6th class
parents on Thursday March 9 at Kilkishen Cultural Centre straing at 7:30pm.
 Enrolment Mass for Confirmation: Enrolment Mass for Confirmation pupils takes place on
Saturday March 25 at 7pm mass at O’Callaghans Mills church.
 First Holy Communion: First Holy Communion will take place on Saturday May 6 at 11 am in
Kilkishen church.
 Confirmation: Pupils in 6th class will make Confirmation on Friday June 9 at 12 noon in
Kilkishen church.
A reminder school will close be closed Friday March 17 for St.Patrick’s Day and at 12noon on Friday
March 31 for Easter Holidays. School reopens on Monday April 17 2023.
