Depression and Suicide Ideation

- Depression is always adjacent to suicide, and it is one of the leading cause of death in young
adults. Having depression is not easy, you tend to be sad and question your worth as an individual
with no apparent reason. Having friends or someone that you can talk to whenever you feel alone
or sad is a great help. This issue is frequently ignored and untreated, we must end this stigma and
start by ourselves by normalizing people who consult help from a psychiatrist.

Alcohol and Substance Abuse

- Many young people, using alcohol, drugs, or other substances like cigarettes is just part of
growing up. Many of them try these substances out of curiosity and stop, while others may
continue to use them on a more regular basis. For some it is their way of coping to stress and
problems. Parents can play a key part in teaching their children about alcohol and drug use by
talking honestly and openly about the effects that alcohol and drugs can have on their children's
health, schoolwork, and relationships.
