I. SUMMARY
In the Philippines, the post common tumors were astrocytoma followed by medulloblastoma. Delayed
diagnosis of pediatric (brain tumors has been documented in various studies and can be devastating. To
both families and clinicians. Delayed after treatment and may lead to neurological, developmental and
neuroendocrinology sequel , impairment or intellectual function and even death. This may also cause
anxiety and lack of trust in the healthcare system on the part of patients and their families. Several factors
has been associated with delayed diagnosis , including older age presence of comorbidities, lower
parental education and socioeconomic status, tumor characteristics, access to neuro imaging , and
presenting symptoms such as vomiting , headache, ataxia, psychological problems and endocrine
disturbances.

II .PERSONAL INSIGHT
Early diagnosis is very important. Delayed diagnosis among, Filipino children With brain tumors are
primarily associated with older age, tumor characters, and symptoms that may not be commonly observed
in this condition. This study stresses the need for early parental recognition of symptoms that may often
be dismissed . Strategies to educate parents include teaching them about to watch out for during regular
physician visit as well as advise on early consultation once they notice appearance or changes in such
symptoms .First , contact your client physician should elicit a detailed history , perform and interpret
neurologic examination accurately, and be vigilant about these symptoms , carefully and closely
monitoring patients with frequent follow-up so that persistence, progression or development of new
symptoms will alert them immediately.

III NURSING IMPLICATIONS


A. To Nursing Practice
Management of patients with brain tumor requires a team effort where nursing plays a unique role. Nurses
provide cave to these patients in many setting, from Initial diagnosis to death, and in wide variety of roles.
Not only must the nurse establish rapport, help quell fear, and assist the family. Must determine the
patient level of consciousness; ability to comprehend and speak: difficulties in seeing, hearing, tasting,
and smelling. Patients with brain tumors require extensive, skilled, professional care from nurses with
patience. It is the nurse who can provide comprehend care and sense of security to the family.
B. To Nursing Education
In rural areas, traditional healers may be more accessible and less costly than physicians and patients seek
advice from physicians only if there was no improvement in symptoms. It is important for our patients to
know that early detection of the disease is having a higher chance of successful treatment. We can
educate our patients by telling them that they are effective diagnostics which are less costly and
accessible.
C. To Nursing Research
For nursing research, the journal will be a baseline data or an idea for the next related research. This will
help the researchers to find something new that will further help over nurses improve their healthcare
services. It can’t be avoided that some data may still be missed since the study was done retrospectively.
