Code of Conduct

Laboratory Practice of
Basic Chemistry 2
Before entering laboratory, student:
1. Must prepare laboratory practice journals corresponding to the specific
experiment that will be carried out on that day..
2. Wears laboratory coat neatly and appropriately (coat buttons closed all the
time).
3. Wear closed shoes, no sandals, and open shoes.
4. Has done and submitted previous laboratory practice report arranged by
laboratory (lecturer) assistant.
5. Has been ready 15 minutes before the experiment started.

After entering laboratory and before starting the experiment, student:


1. Signs the attendance list prepared by the assistant.
2. Must do the pre-test of corresponding materials based on the topic of
experiment on that day, minimum score/grade is determined by lab assistant
coordinator.
3. Who is coming late, still can do the pre-test as long as the pre-test time is not
over yet and there will not be additional time to complete the pre-test.

During the experiment, student:


1. Must follow the procedure and lab assistant instructions to do the laboratory
practice.
2. Uses laboratory equipment appropriately based on the need. If the
equipment is limited, complete the experiment within the procedure.
3. Must not come in and leave out of the laboratory without permission from
the coordinator/lab assistant, take in guests, eat or drink, as well as make
noise (commotion).
4. Keep clean, neat, polite and prioritize health and safety of the workplace.

After completing the experiment, student:


1. Must clean all the used glassware, equipment, apparatus, and return to the
previous storage, or return to the laboratory staff witnessed by the laboratory
assistant.
2. Must make a report in a separate paper and submit it to the lab assistant.
3. Must re-check bench/desk, floor and storage place. Make sure no
garbage/waste is left.

Attendance
1. All topics of the experiment and lab procedure must be completed by
student, starting from instructional procedure/briefing until the experiment.
2. If not present during the instructional procedure/briefing, the student must
come and see the lecturer (and lab assistant coordinator) while bringing a
statement letter.
3. If not present during the experiment, then all scores/grades of the laboratory
practice will be zeroed (null/void).
4. If not present due to illness/unwell, the student must report and bring a
statement letter from a doctor.

Grading
Aspects of scoring/grading :
1. Pre-test : 15%
2. Skill, tidiness, cleanliness, readiness : 15%
3. Worksheet, prelim report, workflow diagram : 15 %
3. Final report (each experiment) : 35%
4. Exam : 20%
Breakage or Loss of Apparatus/Glassware/Equipment
1. Must be replaced with the same Apparatus/Glassware/Equipment (same
brand, type, size, capacity, dimension) by showing the invoice
(purchase/procurement).
2. A Late return penalty (more than 4 working days) will be suspension of
grade/score until the apparatus/glassware/equipment is completely returned.

Pre-test
1. Is conducted each time before starting the experiment, with the
corresponding materials based on the topic of the experiment on that day.
2. The minimum score for the pre-test is 60, If the student got less than the
required score, then the student must re-do the pre-test until reaching the
minimum score.
