About the University:
Central University of Kashmir (formerly known as the Central University of Jammu and
Kashmir) was established in March 2009. Currently University is operational at Green
Campus, Arts Campus (Duderhama), Science Campus, (Nuner) and its main permanent
campus at Tulmullah. The mission of the University is to contribute to the educational
programmes leading to Bachelors, Masters, Professional and Doctorate Degrees as well as
to address the Cultural, Economic, Educational, Environmental, Health and Social needs of
the Region and Nation at large.

About School:
The Central University of Kashmir has established the School of Education in the year
2011 which started functioning from the academic session June-2012. At present,
the School is offering M.A. Education, M.Ed., Integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. (3Years), M.P.Ed.,
Ph.D. and P.G. Diploma in Guidance And Counselling (PGDGC) programmes. Keeping in
view the vision and mission statements of Central University of Kashmir, the School of
Education has successfully taken many initiatives and innovative steps in order to realize
the achievement of goal of excellence in education in general and higher education in
particular. Right from its inception (2012), the School has been striving for providing
quality education in terms of using modern technologies in teaching learning processes,
evaluating students through 3600 evaluation system, enrolling/admitting students from
diverse social, regional and geographical backgrounds and developing inclusive ethos as
a trend of working among various stakeholders.
School of Education is showing keen interest for the enhancement and maintenance of
quality standards of the University. The School has constructed the Student Feedback
Performa through which the student assesses the teacher and the university as a whole.
The School has collected the feedback forms from students through nodal officers of IQAC.
Department has prepared the Curriculum Transactional Strategy (CTS) for making the
teaching-learning process more effective and efficient. A model of the same prepared by
the School was circulated to all the Departments for consultation and further necessary
action. The School is publishing a peer-reviewed research journal. The School is pressing
hard to its faculty to enhance the profile through various programmes. Teachers of
the School are encouraged to go for orientation courses/ refresher courses, to attend
workshops, seminars etc.

About the District:
Ganderbal is a district in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and has its district
headquarters located at 33.73°N 75.15°E in the town of Ganderbal, at an average
elevation of 1,950 metres (6,400 ft) above mean sea level. This mountainous district is
located in the valley of the Sindh River, also known as Nallah Sindh. It is rich in landscape
and is often called the District of Lakes. The town is at a distance of 21 kilometres from
Srinagar city. The historical sites of Ganderbal are Kheer Bhawani and Naranag Temple.
The famous tourist sites are the Sonamarg and Manasbal Lake, Mammar, Naranag etc.

About the Seminar:


International Women’s Day is celebrated in the world over, every year on the 8th day
of March. It celebrates womanhood and pays tribute to the indomitable spirit of women
across the globe. Its root lies in the early 1900s when oppression and inequality was
spurring women to become more vocal and active in campaigning for change. This day
is also commemorated at the United Nations and is designated in many countries as a
national holiday.
It is an opportunity for the CUK academia to come together, locally and nationally, in a space
that aims to empower women through the lens of education, leadership development and
social justice. For this year, the School of Education intends to organise two-day National
Seminar on “Women Empowerment in Ancient Knowledge Traditions: Reflections from
the Jammu and Kashmir Academic Heritage”
The seminar is being organised with an objective to recognise the contribution of Ancient
scholars and saints towards women empowerment and gender justice in India. An effort
is being made to showcase the contribution of great scholars of Jammu and Kashmir
like Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani, La Ded etc in making the Indian society inclusive with
due recognition to women and their empowerment. The seminar will include sessions
on culture, religion, female upliftment, security, social status and role of women in India
culture. The welfare schemes of central & state Governments benefiting women along
with achievements of women will also be discussed.

Objectives:
This seminar is aimed to achieve these objectives:
• To discuss the contribution of ancient eminent scholars towards gender justice,
promotion of girl’s education and women empowerment

• To highlight the provisions of Women Empowerment in Ancient Indian Knowledge
Traditions.
• To showcase the life, works and contributions of great women of Jammu and
Kashmir.
• To analyse the progress achieved towards the goal of women empowerment in India.
• To highlight the existing government enactments & policies and gaps for
education, upliftment and empowerment of women in India in their implementation.
• To identify the road blocks in the path of women empowerment and suggest
remedial measures.
• To examine the role of various civic societies and NGOs working in the field of
women empowerment.

Platform:
The seminar will be organized in blended mode i.e the proceedings of the event shall be
conducted offline as well as in online mode. The participants/paper presenters who shall
not be in a position to participate or present their papers physically, can join the event

having keen interest in women empowerment and gender justice can participate in the
event.

Participation:
The seats are limited to 200 participants offered on a first come first serve basis for which
a participant needs to register using the given link. The form will be open till 10:00 PM of
3rd March, 2022 or until it reaches up to 200 participants.

Certification:
Certificates will be provided to all the participants who will attend the event.

Call for Papers:


Original research papers on the above mentioned topics are invited for offline/online
oral/poster presentations. The participants are required to submit the abstract to the

email:iwdsoecuk@gmail.com. All accepted abstracts will be published in souvenir of the
seminar, which will be released on the Inauguration day.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission:


One page abstract with key findings on A4 size paper (not more than 350words) typed
in Times New Roman Font (12 size) with single spacing. The Abstract should contain
original results with definite conclusions. Before submitting research paper/abstract, the
candidate should ensure the contents of the paper are plagiarism free.

Best Oral/Poster presentations will be awarded in the valedictory function of the seminar
in each category with first, second and third positions as certificates.

The University has a number of hotels in its vicinity with tariff starting from 1000 INR/-
onwards per day. Hotels are located within a radius of about 20 Km(s) from Central

Venue
Seminar is scheduled on March 9, 2023 at Main Campus Tulmulla Ganderbal, Central
University of Kashmir. The venue offers excellent ultra-modern audio/visual presentation
facilities for the conduct of parallel technical sessions.
