0.74m Ku Prodelin Antenna – Attaching Reflector Mount

Begin the antenna assembly by attaching the antenna
reflector bracket to the Az/El mount:
1. Hold the reflector bracket in position over the Az/El
mount so that the tilt scale faces the mount, as
shown on top right
2. As shown insert four 5/16-inch × ¾-inch carriage
bolts into the tilt plate, then through the main
opening in the reflector bracket, and into the
corresponding holes in the A/z/El mount
3. Place a 5/16-inch hex flange nut on each of the
four bolts from the opposite side and tighten the
nuts lightly, only until snug. Once connected, the
reflector bracket should rotate freely on the Az/El
mount.
When the reflector bracket is correctly positioned on the
Az/El mount assembly, you should be able to clearly
see the tilt scale numbers on the reflector bracket
above the tilt pointer, as shown on bottom right
4. Using the tilt value you obtained from the IDU as
described in Determining the pointing values, set
the scale to the proper reading, and lock down the
four bolts to 8 ft-lb using a torque wrench

HN7000S Installation and Commissioning

0.74m Ku Prodelin Antenna – Installing Radio Assembly

You must make sure that the O-ring remains in the groove at the end of the feed horn before
attaching the radio transmitter. If the O-ring is not positioned properly, moisture will accumulate
inside the TRIA, causing damage to the radio transmitter.
5. Use a long-shaft ball driver 3-mm Allen wrench to tighten the socket-head screws to 15 in-lb
of torque (maximum)
6. When the radio transmitter assembly is fully assembled, tighten the two 5/16-inch bolts to

0.98m Ku Prodelin Reflector – Installing Az/EL

Follow these steps to install the Az/El and reflector
bracket assembly onto the mast:
1. Before you install the Az/El and reflector bracket
assembly onto the mast pipe, use a bubble level to
make sure the mast is plumb
2. Slide the canister of the Az/El and reflector bracket
assembly down onto the mast
3. Photo on right shows the Az/El and reflector
bracket assembly on the mast
Optional: If you adjust the antenna elevation now to the
coarse elevation value, before installing the
reflector, it‘s easier than making this
adjustment after the reflector is attached
4. Rotate the Az/El and reflector bracket assembly
until the reflector side is oriented in the general
direction of the satellite
If necessary, loosen the canister nuts just enough
to allow the assembly to rotate
5. Snug the three canister nuts just enough to prevent The mast must be plumb. The antenna
the assembly from rotating. Do not tighten the nuts assembly cannot be adjusted to correct
at this time for a mast that is not plumb.

0.98m Ku Prodelin Antenna – Attaching the Reflector

To attach the antenna reflector to the reflector bracket:
1. Orient the reflector so the HughesNet logo on the
front is near the top, as shown on right
Note: To make it easier to position the reflector and
insert the screws (steps 2 and 3), you can adjust
the elevation of the Az/El and reflector bracket
assembly beyond the 80° mark on the elevation
scale so the surface of the reflector bracket that
attaches to the reflector is nearly horizontal.
Then you can lay the reflector on the bracket,
with the holes in the reflector facing the bracket.
This method (not illustrated here) is especially
useful when one person installs the antenna.
To use this method you must loosen the fine elevation
adjustment nuts and elevation lockdown bolts. Be sure
to tighten the elevation lockdown bolts before laying
the reflector on the bracket.

DAPT with 22 KHz filter

HN7000S Installation and Commissioning

Using DAPT
Once the DAPT and filter are correctly assembled and installed, the first
thing to notice is the displayed information. It will be showing you the
actual voltage on the Rx IFL cable. This value could be anywhere between
~11vdc and as high as ~18.2vdc. This is based on Horizontal or Vertical
receive of the system.
On your laptop, go to the System Control Center, select the Advanced
page, go into Installation → Setup → Registration Installer → enter zip
code, select satellite transponder or enter parameters manually, ‗Enable
OPI‘ for use during antenna pointing. By pressing the ‗Advance‘ button
on DAPT (#3, on the right), it will change from the IFL cable voltage to
‗COMM Startup‘.
The display will then change automatically to show you Mode and Value.
‗Mode‘ will either be ‗0‘ or ‗2‘. The ‗0‘ mode indicates receive pointing,
while the ‗2‘ mode indicates ACP (Auto Cross-Pol), either ‗manual‘ or
‗automatic‘. Manual mode will show a constantly changing (dynamic)
value, while Automatic will show a single (static) value. The ‗Value‘
indicated will be the same value showing on your laptop. You cannot
change DAPT operation from ACP to registration mode by pressing the
‗Advanced‘ button. As with the OPI, you have to make that change at the
laptop.

General Troubleshooting

You are the customer‘s first technical resource

It is important that you are comfortable troubleshooting basic issues
Troubleshooting support is available in product manuals, field service bulletins,
installer support and customer technical support
Larger, more complex issues should be referred to technical support after
performing basic troubleshooting

Basic steps to troubleshooting:

Verify physical connections and ensure all cables are secure (transmit,
receive, Ethernet, and power supply)
Diagnose LED lights and identify issues using the Control Center
HN7000S Installation and Commissioning

Troubleshooting using Hughes Tools

The On Site Validation Tool (OVT) should be used to verify the
quality of the installation
In the future there will be a Ku Site History Profile Tool that will be
used to diagnose issues occurring over a 90 day or 365 day
timeframe (This tool can only be used after 48 hour period)
