Give your own definition of “communication” and give examples of how you do communication
every day.

Communication is simply the process of transmitting and exchanging thoughts, feelings,

and knowledge between individuals. It is a way for us to interact with everyone. A sender and a
recipient are necessary for communication. Depending on the circumstances, communication
may be effective or ineffective. Other types of communication include verbal and nonverbal
communication.

I require a listener in order to convey my thoughts, emotions, and ideas when I

communicate. Every day, I engage in communication through various types of idea transfer,
and I make sure to pay close attention to both the person I am speaking with and any nonverbal
signs they may be giving. My ideas, impressions, and feelings are conveyed through verbal or
nonverbal communication. Along with using words, I also use nonverbal signals like body
language, facial expressions, sign language, and social media platforms like messenger or any
other platform. In order for my concerns to be understood, I often use questions as a form of
communication. I also frequently use videocalls to remain in touch with people, especially my
relatives who live in California to ask how they are doing and learn about their activities of daily
living. I make sure I am aware of the factors to take into consideration and my own limitations
in order to develop effective communication. Sometimes, I come across communication that is
completely ineffective, so it does exist. Acknowledging what to focus on and being aware of my
limitations are both necessary for effective communication. Communication is not just about
expressing feelings or thoughts. Considering the emotions, ideas, and impressions of the sender
and recipient is another part of communication.
