how the pacing of the class also helped to pace what section of our online modules to focus on. I
like that we had assignments that we could do and receive feedback on that we could then
incorporate into our modules (the syllabus, for example). This really made it feel like what we
were working on throughout the semester was important and didn’t feel like “busy work”
Regarding my online module, the only thing that didn’t happen as smoothly as I wanted it
to was the incorporation of Google Classroom. I initially wanted it to “host” my online module
because we are a Google EDU school. All students have Chromebooks. I thought this would be
the best design strategy for our students (since my module is based on students at my school).
However, I A) could not fit the amount of information on the Google Classroom stream the way
I wanted to and B) could not get all of it organized the way I wanted to. So, I ended up using
Weebly to write a lot of my information in and then posted it in appropriate sections within
Google Classroom. This worked out SO much better! Had this been a real design scenario, there
would have been more collaboration between the Instructional Technologist and the teachers in
I didn’t get a lot of feedback from my classmates regarding my online module. I received
several positive comments on various aspects of it, which I appreciate! I didn’t receive any type
of feedback that would make me change anything about the current state of my module. For
example, one classmate mentioned I should consider making my task list stand out more.
Personally, I don’t feel this to be an issue as my task list for each module is the second thing
listed on the page right under the learning objectives. In my opinion, when you get in to
critiquing modules, there is a lot of personal taste involved. One person will look at it and think it
all looks great and the next will think you need to change the design of something. It doesn’t
mean anyone is particularly right or wrong (unless there is something glaringly wrong, of
course!), it just means you must stick to your vision. And, I believe I have with this module.
Overall, I’m very happy with my online module and I look forward to hearing your
critiques/suggestions on it as well!
