AMAZING GRACE AT THE CROSS
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
that saved a wretch like me! Stanza 1:
I once was lost, but now am found; Alas! and did my Savior bleed?
was blind, but now I see. And did my Sov'reign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
Stanza 2: For such a worm as I?
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved; Chorus :
how precious did that grace appear At the cross, at the cross,
the hour I first believed. Where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away -
Stanza 3: It was there by faith I received my sight,
Through many dangers, toils, and snares, And now I am happy all the day.
I have already come;
'tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, Stanza 2:
and grace will lead me home. Was it for crimes that I have done
He groaned upon the tree?
Stanza 4: Amazing pity! Grace unknown!
The Lord has promised good to me, And love beyond degree!
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be, (Chorus)
as long as life endures.
Stanza 3:
Stanza 5: Well might the sun in darkness hide
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And shut its glories in,
and mortal life shall cease, When Christ, the mighty Maker, died
I shall possess, within the veil, For man the creature's sin.
a life of joy and peace.
(Chorus)
Stanza 6:
When we've been there ten thousand years, Stanza 4:
bright shining as the sun, Thus might I hide my blushing face
we've no less days to sing God's praise While His dear cross appears;
than when we first begun. Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt mine eyes to tears.

(Chorus)

Stanza 5:
But drops of grief can ne'er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give myself away -
'Tis all that I can do!

supports me in the whelming flood.
