1. My faith looks up to Thee
NEARER MY GOD TO THEE Thou Lamb of Calvary
Saviour Divine
1. Nearer my God, to thee
Now hear me while I pray
Nearer to thee;
Take all my guilt away
E’en though it be a cross
Oh make me from this day
That raiseth me;
Be wholly Thine.
Still all my song shall be
Nearer my God, to thee
2. May Thy rich grace impart
Nearer to thee.
Strength to my fainting heart
My zeal inspire
2. Though like the wan-der-er,
As thou hast died for me
The sun gone down,
Oh make my love to Thee
Dark-ness be over me,
Pure , warm, and changeless be
My rest a stone;
A living fire.
Yet in my dreams I'd be
Nearer, my God, to thee.
3. When life’s dark maze I tread
Nearer to thee.
And griefs around me spread
Be Thou my guide
3. There let the way appear
Bid darkness turn to day
Steps unto heaven:
Wipe sorrows’ tear away
All that thou sendest me
Nor let me ever stray
In mercy given:
From Thee aside.
Angels to beckon me
Nearer, my God, to thee,
4. When ends life’s transient dream
Nearer to thee.
When death’s flood sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll

1
Blest Saviour then in love Oh what peace we often forfeit,
Fear and distrust remove Oh, what needless pain we bear
O bear me safe above All because we do not carry
A ransom’d soul. Everything to God in prayer!

IN CHRIST ALONE 2. Have we trials, and temptations?

1. In Christ alone my hope is found Is there trouble anywhere?
He is my light, my strength, my song We should never be discouraged;
This cornerstone, this solid ground Take it to the Lord in prayer
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm Can we find a Friend so faithful,
What heights of love, what depths of peace Who will all our sorrows share?
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease Jesus knows our every weakness
My comforter, my all in all Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Here in the love of Christ I stand
3. Are we weak and heavy-laden,
2. In Christ alone who took on flesh Cumbered with a load of care?
Fullness of God in helpless babe Precious Saviour, still our refuge
This gift of love and righteousness Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Scorned by the ones He came to save Do thy Friend despise, forsake thee?
Till on that cross as Jesus died Take it to the Lord in prayer;
The wrath of God was satisfied In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
For every sin on Him was laid Thou wilt find a solace there.
Here in the death of Christ I live
ABIDE WITH ME
3. There in the ground His body lay 1. Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
Light of the world by darkness slain The darkness deepens; lord, with me abide;
Then bursting forth in glorious day When other helpers; fail, and comfort flee.
Up from the grave He rose again Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me 2. Swift to its close ebbs out life's little
For I am His and He is mine day.
Bought with the precious blood of Christ Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass
away.
4. No guilt in life, no fear in death Change and decay in all around I see.
This is the power of Christ in me O thou who changest not abide with me.
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny 3. I need thy presence every passing hour;
No power of hell, no scheme of man What but thy grace can foil the tempter’s
Can ever pluck me from His hand power,
Till He returns or calls me home Who like thyself my guide and stay can be
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand Through cloud and sunshine Lord abide
with me.

WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS 4. I fear no foe with thee at hand to bless.
1. What a friend we have in Jesus, Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
All our sins and griefs to bear! Where is death sting, where, grave, thy
What a privilege to carry Victory?
Everything to God in prayer! I triumph still, if thou abide with me.
