Managing Oneself: A Deep Understanding of Myself

Discover who you are. Focus on what you can do. Know your
values. Take responsibility for your actions.

What are my strengths?

I know that I can easily talk to people. I am approachable,
although some people see me as a snob sometimes. But when they
get to know me by talking to me, they suddenly realize that I am
easy to be with.

I know how to apologize because, in the end, I also want people

to apologize to me so we can work things out easily moving
forward.

I know how to recognize mistakes and I point these out to the

person/s concern. I also give due credit when it is appropriate
because I know the feeling of being recognized.

What are my most dangerous weakness(es)?

I easily and quickly react to different situations. I know this
is important but, most of the time, I end up the wrong way. I am
also judgmental.

How do I describe how I work?

I am an observant and I work based on experience. I don’t
hesitate to ask. I remember one of my bosses in one of my online
jobs. He once said that he encourages his employees to always
ask no matter how many times they do it until they understand
it. That is why, if I don’t get it, I ask and raise my concerns.
If there’s a need to complain, then I do complain because I also
want to listen to others at work who might be having a hard time
or are not satisfied with what they currently have or are
working at the moment.

I can work both on my own and in a team. I prefer to do things

on my own because I also need to focus on what needs to be done
immediately. However, I also want to be part of a team who can
work together and provide better results. Since I love talking
to people, I want everyone to get involved and share their
ideas. I love it when we achieve one great output because we can
also celebrate together for a job well done. But I don’t want
everyone to take the fall because someone else is not doing the
right thing. As much as possible, I want everyone to succeed but
I am not afraid to correct mistakes so they won’t do the same
thing again later on.
How do I manage my boss?
I am not afraid to argue with my boss, especially when I know
that I am right. However, if I know that I am wrong, I do
apologize to her and she clearly understands. I do my best to
always explain my side so she will know what I want, what I
feel, and what I need to do. We have an open communication
because it is important in our daily work. I accept both his
reprimand and praise.

What are my realizations after answering the previous questions?

I know that I still have so much to learn but I also know that I
have a lot to give. Knowing my strengths and weaknesses as well
as how to act on them helps me to be a better person, whether as
a manager/leader or as a member of an organization. I can use my
strength to do better things. I will use my weakness to improve
some aspects in my work so I can contribute and give better
results. I can take responsibility for what I did and what I
will do later on. Knowing oneself results to managing oneself
even better.
