Using drama and art in education stimulates learning and enhances personalities. In
addition, it imparts students with crucial skills, such as problem-solving, leadership, and
collaboration. A student's ability to think critically and value creativity is even seen by
teachers. In order to stimulate creativity, critical thinking, and logical reasoning in students,
drama and the arts are essential to the education process. Education must support drama
and art because students can remember and comprehend their learning information without
having to cram. Ultimately, art education can help students to excel in other academic areas
as well.
A student can benefit from art and education by developing their memory and concentration
skills as well as improving their discipline. As a result of this teaching methodology, children
become better learners, not only in comprehending academic material. Students who
participate in drama and art are better learners. During the program, students learn to work
in a team and understand different points of view. Moreover, they can also develop
understandings and appreciations for different cultures, which then leads to an increased
feeling of being a better learner. The reason why arts education is included in schools in the
first place.
Introduction
Young people find drama a highly accessible art form, and using drama as a way to learn
helps students make sense of the world and express themselves through art. However,
classroom learning is able to demonstrate the impact that good teaching can have on the
artistic way. But by dumping other methods of teaching on the bottom, we will not be able to
achieve equality for all children in arts education. It is imperative to incorporate performing
arts into teacher education curriculums in order to ensure learning is not burdened. The
Kothari Commission Report of 1964-66 emphasized that creative expression education takes
on an even greater significance in an age when discovery and invention are valued highly.
As such, the purpose of this study is to explore the use of drama as a teaching and learning
tool to enhance students' contexts proficiency as well as learning and understanding.
Teaching is a constant search for effective strategies to motivate and enhance students'
learning experiences. Drama is becoming increasingly popular in educational contexts as an
effective and valuable teaching method. By utilizing drama, students enhance their ability to
think logically, critically, and creatively.
It does not matter what subject the student is learning if teachers creative techniques into
classroom instruction and help students develop essential skills for holistic development.
Additionally, the arts have been shown to help students remain engaged in the classroom and
achieve higher academically. They also provide different skills beyond what is normally
taught in the classroom. The main goal of art in education is to be able to make connections
across complex ideas. Students are able to develop transferrable skills in the art classroom
that will benefit them both inside and outside of school. Creative education means shifting
from a disproportionate emphasis on information content to an approach that pays attention to
how ideas are processed and how individuals come up with their own unique contributions.
This is mainly because creative learning is typically highly cognitively demanding. There are
a variety of learning activities that teachers can use in the classroom to promote classroom
activities and, among others, enhance the students' abilities to speak, listen, and comprehend.
In any case, learning about art and drama challenges students to think outside the box and
they can look for multiple solutions to problems and create new things around them. A child's
true talent today lies in his or her ability to draw from many sources, and art and drama
provide a vessel for accessing those sources. As part of the teaching and learning process, it is
necessary to pay attention to creativity and improvisation in instructional materials, in order
to promote quality instruction in the system. However, it is important to create a healthy,
enjoyable environment in the classroom.
It helps to rewire the brain so that the student performs better academically because learning
is done through doing and applied to the teaching and learning process. It has been shown
that drama and art used in education accelerate the development of students' personalities
because drama and art education encourages creativity and engagement in a different way
than what is typically taught in the classroom. They can explore their interests and take part
in what excites them rather than being spoon-fed facts. In addition to this, students can
benefit from art in a wide range of ways.
Nowadays, elementary classrooms are heavily dominated by teachers. Because there are
many standards and benchmarks being set but learning is an individual thing. It implies that
standardized materials, instruction, and practices might actually impede learning. Students
should be encouraged to show this quality in their lower classes and be encouraged to believe
in their own creativity. Students who are taught to develop original ideas through creative
learning can become more well-rounded and capable individuals. In order to maximize that
potential, educators should equip themselves to use creative practice as a central feature of
the curriculum and show decision-makers how such initiatives can transform young children's
skills. However, creative learning instruction provides challenges for learners of all ages by
developing motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision-making, risk-taking, and
inventiveness than traditional educators. The psychological environment is crucial to take
into consideration when it comes to bringing creativity into education.
In this case, understanding the structure of the information would help a teacher ensure that
students have all the individual skills and competencies necessary to solve the problems they
face and then present situations where students can exercise and demonstrate their abilities? It
must help students develop their interpersonal skills and produce creative qualities in them.
Education is the process of guiding people toward discovering meaningful and purposeful
learning, and it involves both teaching and learning. Improvising teaching and learning with
art and drama is generally an attempt to adapt and use resources when ready-made materials
are not within reach.
Even the teacher and students can come up with improvised educational learning materials.
Therefore, art and drama can be used effectively across the curriculum for teaching and
learning. If educators use creative methods to support learning in the classroom, children can
learn more effectively. This method has brought a variety of methodologies into the
classroom teaching process, and it has the ability to move and transform participants. In
addition, it can provide students with new knowledge and skills. These types of education
provide students of all ages with an excellent educational foundation.
It has also been shown that students with language delays or learning disabilities can benefit
from the non-verbal components of drama. Performative art should be integrated into
education courses as a way to focus on learning without burden. According to the Kothari
Commission Report of 1964 to 1966, education for creative expression gets an added
significance in an era devoted to discovery and invention. Children respond almost
immediately to the lullaby or call of their mother, and as they grow, their thinking and
creativity become more advanced. As a performing art, drama is a form of self-expression
and serves as a tool for education. Because it involves students intellectually, physically,
socially, and emotionally, it is an effective learning tool. Education through the dramatic arts
improves creative problem-solving skills.
Education through the dramatic arts can help students learn new perspectives on the world
and themselves. Education aims to develop a well-rounded individual with rational,
integrated, and creative thought processes. Creative children can see things in new ways and
from different perspectives. In addition, they are able to come up with new ideas based on
their experiences. Children are encouraged to be creative by improvising and playing the role,
generating ideas to solve problems, and responding imaginatively to everyday situations.
Therefore, teachers must implement effective learning and teaching strategies in the Arts
Education curriculum to make learning and teaching more effective. The arts are closely
related to life - in fact, they are everywhere. We are surrounded by art every day. It can excite
and motivate children regardless of their level of education, taking them away from the
monotony of textbook learning.
When students engage with new learning stimuli, their idiosyncratic learning histories
determine the kinds of insight, ideas, and interpretations they will have. Furthermore, the
goals of formal educational activities make sure that students understand concepts, ideas, and
skills in a proper or at least a compatible manner. In fact, creative learning encompasses more
than just the individual and has the potential to benefit others as well. In addition, even if
students are confident, value creativity, and are willing to take creative risks, they will not be
able to fully realize their potential in creative learning unless they have access to
opportunities and social support. Teachers, peers, and individuals in the school setting as well
as broader communities are crucial for realizing such potential.
For teachers to build and sustain teaching-learning support, they must be willing to take
instructional risks. To promote creativity, we must go beyond general learning and must
modify instruction in the content areas as we do in traditional teaching. As educators, we
should prepare alternatives to scripted creative teaching that aims for deeper conceptual
understanding for making students capable of creating new knowledge. During creative
teaching, the teacher's role is more to facilitate than to teach conventionally. Teachers need to
have a deep understanding of cognitive mapping and be able to relate one idea to another so
that they can address misconceptions and teach learners according to standards. Teaching
strategies need to be viewed as cross-disciplinary.
There will have to be a shift from the instructions model that dominates classrooms today
because creating creative learning environments is inherently challenging, both theoretically
and conceptually. Classroom designs with improved teaching techniques will help foster
creativity. It is important to plan well in order to make students collaborators and participants
in the learning and improvisation teaching method. As a result, improvised teaching within
structures and frameworks can produce the most effective classroom interaction. In schools
of the future, creativity and innovation will be encouraged so students will gain deeper
knowledge of the content, and the skills they need to use that knowledge creatively.
Educators are required to ensure that children retain the opportunity for spontaneous and
imaginative learning because they spend most of their waking hours at school. Teachers have
a lot of challenges to overcome when they are in the classroom. It means that teachers are
responsible for the futures of their students. This includes dealing with difficult students. In
order to provide the best learning environment possible, the classroom must be optimized.
Conclusion
The purpose of this article is to provide recommendations for how to design learning
environments to foster greater creativity and learning. This study combines the arts with
education and learning to provide recommendations for designing learning environments that
promote creative learning. In addition, it offers meta-analyses of three strands: creativity, arts
education, and teaching-learning processes. This article concluded that creativity is taught as
a domain-general skill with learning and effective specificity in each subject area. It has
shown that creativity with learning requires hard work, otherwise, it would not be considered
novel. People who are creative are usually passionate about what they do, and they also are
objective about their work. It provides a positive and generative educational experience that
contributes not only to the educational success of individual students, but also to the creative
contribution of peers, teachers, and others.
Positive education is an important component to build on the strengths that have been
inherent in student-teacher interactions. It also represents a significant expansion of
prototypical learning efforts in terms of not only academic learning but also the potential for
creative expression and contribution to others' learning. In summary, the purpose of this
article is to develop student creativity through a unique and domain-general approach to
creativity. Instead, schools should change the way each subject is taught if they want to
educate for creativity. The most creative learning, in all subjects, results from pedagogical
strategies that are active, constructionist, collaborative, and improvisational. This article
provides research-based recommendations for developing learning environments that lead to
creative learning outcomes.
