Urban Life

Young people today chose to move away from the countryside and live in cities. For this reason, rural
areas are gradually diminishing and are mostly made up of elders.

Firstly, young people may choose to move into a city for its educational opportunities. Even since high
school, many students leave their hometown for school, since most schools in the countryside are
scarcely funded where teachers work in worse conditions and have limited resources. Moreover, many
villages and town do not have any higher education institutions, and young adults feel urged to leave for
university in order to have a successful career. Furthermore, studying in the urban area creates more
social opportunities and therefore, it makes it easier for a young person to find like-minded people.

Secondly, cities have a wider access to cultural events, as most theatres, museums and art galleries can
be found there. Moreover, in the countryside, cultural events mostly focus on the tradition of a specific
community, while in cities, they are novel and cover a wider range of experiences. Furthermore, artists
often move into cities to have more possibilities to create and share their work. However, both urban
and rural areas have a rich culture, although people mostly invest in cities, where tourism brings more
profit, instead of promoting local culture as well.

In conclusion, I believe that young people chose to live in cities mostly for education, as every
community has its own culture.
