Smartphone

 Cell phones became popular in the '90s and early 2000s. As wireless networks improved, especially
between 3G and 4G/4G LTE, the technology shifted from cell phones to smartphones.Cellular
phones preceded smartphones on the road to portable digital technology. Motorola's Martin Cooper
made the first cell phone call in April 1973. While the reality of carrying portable phones was not
realized for ten more years, this development paved the way for further advancements in mobile
communications.

Printing Machine/Printing Press

 Digital printing has evolved to offer: Faster printing speeds. Traditional printing methods produce
great copies but take a lot of time to prep and print. Digital printers massively speed up the process,
with a simple procedure of sending or uploading an image file to be printed.

Laptops

 Todays portable laptop computers have come along way since the Big oversized machines of the
early eighties. The laptop has become very popular over the years and may soon be used more often
than desktop computers. The idea of the laptop came was thought up by a man named Alan Kay.
Alan Kay imagined a laptop sized portable computer which he called the Dynabook which would
have wireless network capabilities, excellent color graphics and tremendous computing power. Alan
convinced the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center to fund a laboratory to put his idea into action.
Eventually, he put together the best hardware prototype of the Dynabook that he could with the
available technology present. He called the prototype, "The Alto", which had bitmapped display,
mouse and network connectivity and could be considered the prototype for the modern miny
computer. He also had plans to design software to make it all usable.

Refrigerator

 In 1834, the first working vapor-compression refrigeration system was built. The first commercial
ice-making machine was invented in 1854. In 1913, refrigerators for home use were invented. In
1923 Frigidaire introduced the first self-contained unit. The earliest models of the refrigerator really
just had one feature to them-a chunk of ice. According to archival records from the Smithsonian
National Museum of American History, the icebox was an insulated cabinet with a compartment
containing ice that kept perishable foods cool.Today's models have better insulation in the cabinets
and sealing around the doors and they use more efficient compressor motors and new refrigerants.

Television

 The first television sets in 1927 were huge, with tiny screens and had scrolls on the sides of them.
They were big and box-like, and the size of an refrigerator. The picture was not color, but black and
white. The first mechanical television scanned images using a rotating disk with holes in a spiral
pattern.
 The screen got better picture quality, and the speakers provided better sound. The television had
gotten drastically smaller, and definitely more convenient for many people. Because of the new
technology the TV became smaller, the screen stayed the same size as the other pieces of the
technology got smaller.
