2. Description of the course

"Medical psychology" as educational discipline: mortgages bases of study of psychiatry, narcology


and other clinical disciplines, students, that envisages integration of teaching with these disciplines;
provides forming of abilities to apply knowledge from a medicopsychology in the process of further
studies and in professional activity; mortgages bases of cognition of psychology of sick man,
forming of healthy way of life and prophylaxis of violation of psychical functions a doctor in the
process of vital functions and at different diseases.

3. Purpose of the course

After completion of the course the student should be able to:

1. To interpret the basic concepts of medical psychology.


2. Acquire a basic understanding of the nature and scope of health psychology.
3. Develop the ability to critically analyze the literature and understand the difference

between personal.

4. Understand the importance of and the connection between psychology and health.
5. Become aware of the relationship between one’s lifestyle, behavior, and health.

4. Pre-Requisitioning and post-requisitioning of the course

Prerequisites: The study this discipline is based on basic knowledge of disciplines acquired in the
previous stages of education. The organization of students' work involves the formation of a
conceptual and categorical array of information on each topic, practical work, control questions and
independent tasks, as well as the solution of problematic scientific problems and situations.

Postrequisites: As a result of studying the course, higher education students can use the learning
outcomes in the study of other disciplines, which integrates the teaching of these disciplines and the
ability to apply knowledge in future professional activities.

5. Content of the course

TOPIC 1. Psychology of personality development. Theories of learning and behavior modification.


Psychological protective mechanisms.

TOPIC 2. Personality and illness. Psychological response to the disease.

TOPIC3.Psychology of medical professionals, medical and diagnostic process. Medical deontology.


Iatrogeny.

TOPIC 4. Neuropsychological aspects of brain functioning. Neurocognitive diseases and brain.


Physiology of sleep.
TOPIC 5. Neurotic and somatoform disorders. Disorders of development of personality.
TOPIC 6. Psychology of suicidal behavior, dying patient and euthanasia.
TOPIC 7. Genetic, epidemiological, physiological, medical and therapeutic aspects of addictive

behavior.
TOPIC 8. Psychopharmacology.

8. Assessment system

practical work is partly performed or the student has written just a part of the protocol.

performed completely, protocol fragment is written correctly.

characterize various biological phenomena and processes; clearly and correctly defines and
reveals the content of scientific terms and concepts, performed practical work independently
and correctly, drew up a protocol of practical training without errors.

9. Course policies

Academic Integrity Policy:

The policy of the educational component is based on the principles of academic integrity (on

the teacher imposes on the student when studying the educational component: compliance with
safety rules in the classroom; prevention of academic plagiarism, falsification, fabrication, cheating,
prohibition of using additional sources of information during the assessment of knowledge
(including by means of electronic communication), when using Internet resources and other sources
of information, the student must indicate the source used during the task.

Attendance at the class is a mandatory component of the assessment. For objective reasons (for
example: illness, business trip, internship, quarantine, etc.), training can take place online in
agreement with the teacher. There is a day for consultations, individual classes (вказати дні
консультацій).

Retake policy:

If the student was absent for any reason, so the rework is carried out within the time limits set by
the teacher. In accordance with the regulations on the organization of the educational process in
TNMU https://www.tdmu.edu.ua/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Pro-organizatsiyu-osvitnogo-
protsesu.pdf. All tasks provided for in the program must be completed within the time limits set by
the teacher.
