Task 1
The table displays the salaries of secondary and high school teachers in 2009.
Overall, the salaries of the teachers are fairly high, with the lowest being 28000 and can reach
the peak at 132000 depending on the school and the time they spent teaching there.
The starting amount paid for teacher’s changes depending on the country, the lowest starting
payment being Australia with 28000 and the highest with Luxembourg at 80000, for other
schools their pay rate are somewhere between those two. After a 15-year period, the teachers’
salaries may experience some changes, the one that has it the most is Luxembourg which
when from 80000 to 119000 and for the other countries their amount of pay is no less than
40000. But this is yet to be the maximum amount that the pay can rise, for some schools the
salaries can still increase by a small margin depending on the year they continue to teach
there. For example, Luxembourg salaries can go up from 119000 to 132000 if the teacher has
taught there for more than 30 years or like Japan with 37 to reach the maximum pay at 86000.

The tendency of news reporters in the media to focus more on problems and
emergencies than on positive developments is harmful to the individuals and the society
as a whole. To what extend do you agree or disagree?
Task 2
The trend of news reports in media focusing more on issues and crises rather than more
positive changes is causing harm to individuals and society as a whole. From my outlook, it
seem that this statement has more to be explained so that I can answer.
On one hand, the problem with this trend is that many individuals can see it negatively and
simultaneously affect the community and society itself, it can also cause people to have a
pessimistic outlook on those issues and crises, or for some people it may also bring fear and
terror to their daily life making it difficult for people to interact with others in their normal
life which in turn makes it hard for society to move up and slow down the developments of
the world.
On the other hand, this trend can also bring some incredible benefits, with is trend some
major issues or crisis can be shined on so people can more aware of it presences, which can
hugely help with those problems that people need to be more aware of. For example, one of
the most common problems that need to be shined on that people aren’t aware of is Global
Warming, when it was announced as one of the world crises barely anyone knew of its
existence, but when people knew we have started to focus on it more and finding ways to
help solve the situation little by little.
In summary, though there are some drawbacks from this trend ultimately the benefits of it
remain undefeated and in my outlook, I highly disagree itwith this statement.

Task 1:
The table compares secondary and high school teachers’ salaries in five countries in 2009.
Overall, while teachers in Luxembourg were the most well-paid, teachers from Australia
were the lowest-paid. On the other hand, Japan holds the first position in years to reach
maximum salary.
In the beginning, teachers in Australia earned only 28,000, which was 17,000 lower than
those in Denmark. It took the former's salaries 9 years and latter's salaries 8 years to reach
their maximum points at 45,000 and 54,000 respectively. After that, those figures stayed
unchanged. Coming to Denmark, teachers may receive 54,000 after 15 years, but the
maximum salary remains the same even after eight years.
Furthermore, Japanese and Korean teachers might get 48,000 as a salary after 15 years. In
comparison, the salaries of Japanese and Korean teachers started at 34,000 and 30,000
respectively. The teachers' incomes in these countries took the longest time to reach their
highest points, at 37 for Korea and 34 for Japan.
Task 2:
It is argued that mainstream media channels concentrate most of their attention on the
problems and urgent issues in the community rather than on positive news, and this trend is
harmful to people. In my opinion, I totally disagree that this is harmful.
Firstly, breaking news is always about some spectacular events. This may be a disaster, for
example, an earthquake, an air crash, or a political event like the assassination of a well-
known figure. However, the positive developments rarely make front-page headlines or
appear as leading articles in news reports. For instance, scientific discoveries like cures of
various types of cancer are results of years of methodical investigation and are not considered
exciting enough for sensational journalism today.
Secondly, when something spectacular happens it is instantly reported. This is a necessary
step in calling public attention to an issue. In fact, news distress to individuals or families
affected and to society as a whole, but problems which demand public concern. For example,
if the media carries a story about a tsunami in Indonesia, this triggers the public to donate
money to international organizations. Moreover, when the media discuss the impact of those
issues, constructive solutions are more likely to be implemented in the long run. For instance,
a major air crash results in calling for a safety investigation.
In conclusion, we can not deny that both sides are well-grounded. For my part, I still stand up
for the media to remain focused on problems and emergencies.

Task 1:
The table describes the amount of payment for high and secondary school teachers in 2009.
In general, the chart showed that Luxembourg acquired the highest salaries in all three
columns, while Australia experienced the opposite. In the final columns, Japanese teachers
need the longest number of years to reach the highest earnings, while Denmark has the
shortest time to acquire the maximum salaries.
It can be seen in the starting salaries column, Australian teachers had the lowest starting
payment, for 28000 a year. Korean teachers’ salaries were 17000 higher than in Australia. In
Japan, teachers earn 34000 a year, 11000 lower than Denmark teacher salaries. Luxembourg
teachers had the highest salaries for 80000 a year. After 15 years, Luxembourg's high/second
teacher salaries increase 39000, remaining the highest, while Australia and Korea both have
the lowest pay for secondary and high school teachers, for 48000 after 15 years.
Besides the first two columns, the third column shows the maximum salaries a teacher could
earn in five countries. Luxembourg teachers earned a maximum of 132000 and experienced
the highest maximum salaries in all five countries. In the final columns, Japanese teachers
need 9 years to earn their highest salaries while the other four countries took less time to
reach the maximum salaries, and the lowest was Denmark.
Task 2:
The world has accounted for many changes through its history, many new inventions and
careers have been born. Most of them are very useful, some of them are very unique. One of
them is the media, a very important part of human civilization nowadays. But some believe
that the media was more intended to focus on emergencies and problems more than on the
positive developments and that they bring a harmful effect on society and individuals. This
essay will discuss potential problems and possible solutions for the problem.
First of all, there are two major problems with this topic. The media has grown bigger than
before and become irreplaceable. So as we can see the media has a huge effect on people. But
in the past decade, the media always showed people news about big problems which made
people anxious, and things can get out of control. For example, a few years ago in America,
there was a lot of news about killing in school. The media is so hungry for news that they
keep chasing much news about the problem. The journalist starts to follow students that have
been in the school that has children die because of gun shootings. Which causes many pupils
to be scared to go outside, and don’t want to go to school. Another issue worth noticing is
that the media could barely put society in some bad situation. In 2020 when Covid-19 first
appeared in Europe and America, the media started to give news about the covid-19 in China,
some media even made up some unrealistic stories. As a consequence, Chinese people living
in western countries start to be isolated by people, some white individuals even use racist
words to talk about not only Chinese but every Asian person. The media was successful in
building a huge nervousness in people, in a time that society needs to be together and help
each other.
The two problems above can’t be solved in a short amount of time but with the right solution
and patience, everything can be solved. Firstly, authorities need to take action in controlling
the media. Government should be serious about what the media gives to its citizens. By
creating a rule of what can be published and what cannot, the authorities can somehow help
their[A1] citizens to contact positive news more than problems, or harmful news. Secondly,
people should know what they need to believe, what they do not from the media, by having
many views from a problem they can know if the news that the media brings is serious or not.
In summary, although all the problems above have long existed, the authorities and citizens
should join hands to conduct possible solutions to reduce the negative news that the media
brings and increase the positive reports to society.

Task 1:
The table illustrates the teacher's salary in secondary and high school in 5 separate countries:
Australia, Denmark, Luxembourg, Japan and Korea in 2009.
It is evident that teachers in Luxembourg were paid the most among the rest of the
countries, while the salary for the teaching profession in Australia took the lowest point.
As can be seen from the table, Korea and Australia have roughly equal beginnings when
they started at 30,000 and 28,000 respectively. Luxembourg began with 80,000; followed by
Denmark with 45,000 and Japan with 34,000. After 15 years, Australia had the same data as
Korea when they rose to 48,000. Meanwhile, Japan surpassed Denmark and reached 65,000
higher than Denmark by 11,000. Luxembourg still occupied the top position when it
increased significantly to 132,000.
Australia and Denmark kept the amount after 15 years which is the maximum amount they
pay teachers and those countries should spend about 8-9 years to reach the maximum salary.
Japan and Korea had a sharp increase when those figures rose to 86,000 and 62,000 and
needed 37 and 34 years to reach those numbers respectively. Luxembourg spent three
decades growing by 13,000 and became the highest point of all time, at 132,000.
Task 2
In the era of urbanization, electronic media or online news tend to post articles related to
problems in daily life or emergencies and gradually reduce information about the
innovations, ascents, and developments of today's society. However, this has a negative
impact on readers and society. Personally, I half agree with this opinion.
First of all, the reason why I agree with the idea that online news should focus on common
accidents for individuals to prevent and avoid them. To illustrate, cybercriminals and
scammers are getting more and more sophisticated, so the articles will condemn and show
how they act to recognize. For example, The scammer will use the customer's trust and
perform through unreliable channels or websites by having ads and hot products on the
market selling at a cheaper price. Secondly, information about accidents or scams will help
experts' criminal psychology to research criminals, specifically their thoughts and intentions,
motives and reactions, emotions and feelings, especially when they engage in behaviors.
Furthermore, wanted criminals will be posted on social media and alerted to the people and
coordinated to catch them.
By contrast, if the articles only focus on negative issues, it will cause the reader to always
feel afraid and lead to human emotions and behavior becoming negative and lifeless. In
addition, news about changes, social progress, or the advent of advanced devices will help
people have more confidence in life and bring better living conditions for people in the
future.
In addition, I support the view that social media focuses on life problems and situations
but also pays more attention to the positive sides of society.

The table below illustrates the income of secondary and high school teachers in 5 different
countries in 2009.
Overall, Luxembourg teachers are expected to have higher salaries than other countries,
whilst Australian teachers are likely to earn the least money.
As can be seen from the table, the starting salaries in Australia is 28,000. Meanwhile, the
initial income of Denmark, Luxembourg, Japan, and Korea are 45,000, 80,000, 34,000,
30,000, respectively. After 15 years, Australia and Korea have modestly increased their
salaries to 48,000 whereas the earnings of Luxembourg and Japanese teachers are 119,000
and 65,000 at that time.
Apparently, the salaries will be proportional to the amount of time they spend on their job. In
Denmark, it took 8 years to reach the maximum income (54,000) while in Japan, it took 37
years to earn the highest salary of 86,000.
Task 2
As a result of technological advancements, media coverage has increased dramatically in
recent years. Besides that, some believe that the media's inclination to concentrate on issues
and emergencies rather than good developments has a negative impact on all of the residents
as a whole. Personally, I totally agree with them for certain reasons.
First off, a constant focus on negative news and media coverage of it may have harmful
consequences for several reasons. The media caught our attention by focusing on
environmental problems such as volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, earthquakes,… Furthermore,
political news is also a prevalent theme. These forms of news instill more negativity in our
minds. For instance, when the media emphasizes the political issue, then cultural divisions
emerge, leading to more wars. Moreover, violence and criminality in the media may harm
youngsters. They are attracted to these types of news, and it is easy for them to become
involved. People will also begin to lose faith and develop trust issues among each other.
Therefore, this tendency is harmful to both society and individuals.
Secondly, negative reports may also affect people physically, potentially leading to some
serious health problems. Positive information, such as a healthy lifestyle, exercises, and other
economic and social improvements taking place throughout the world, for example, has been
shown to provide delight to the individuals’ minds, making them feel happy.
To summarize, while it is necessary for the media to broadcast both positive and negative
items, it is their overall job to display them in such a way that citizens are encouraged to be
optimistic.
