Activity 1: Case Study

Fast Eats is a well recognised fast-food outlet in Sungai Long, offering their signature FE Burger as
well as plates’ lunches which include main menu items such as barbeque ribs, grilled steak, meatloaf
and grilled chicken breast. Fast Eats is currently at the beginning of the design phase of
implementing a call-centre ordering system that will allow customers to place their orders through
the call-centre for home delivery service. However, the sales manager, Mr. Ham have requested that
the project team include a mobile app, connected to their call-centre that would allow the customers
to place their orders online using the app.

Evaluate Mr. Ham’s ability to influence the design of the call-centre ordering system (customer
service) as well as the cost involved in adding the website to the design of the new system.

Answer:
- Mr.Ham has a higher hierarchy position in Fast Eats, so he has the ability to influence the project
team through his virtual power.
- Beside that, Mr. Ham also can influence by sharing the benefits of mobile app in call-centre
ordering system. For example, customer able to view the menu, choose the foods and make the
payment instantly through the mobile app. This can help to save a lot of time as compared to
conventional method which is call to order.

Activity 2: Group Activity

In the context of project management, we discussed about the relationships among various factors
of time, cost, quality and scope.

The group is required to research on the topic chosen for the Group Assignment and answer the
following questions:

To increase efficiency, boost sales and give more control to customers.
To change from traditional point-of-service systems to self-service.
To cut down long queues, making the ordering process much more satisfying for customers.
To reduce ordering time and labor cost

• What is the cost or budget planned for the project?

• What are the quality expectations?


- Able to cater the whole day of orders
- Efficient and accurate
- Increase order and sales

• What is the project scope, i.e. the required work?


- Meeting with shareholders and management, to update the project status from time to time
- Study and understand the kiosk system and allocate the required budget for the project
- Market survey the affordable price for the kiosk system and obtain for at least 3 quotations
- Finalization of the quotation on which kiosk machine to purchase
- Schedule the timeline for the whole project from initial stage to complete stage which include
installation, testing and commission.
- Assign tasks to project team members according to their skills and knowledge based on the
project timeline
- Monitor the progress of the project and make changes if necessary until completion.
- Put the kiosk machine in use and monitor its performance.
