Challenges of Teaching

Roles:

1. Jen- Teacher from Visayas. Conservative and passive. Can speak English but pronounces
words and communicates in Bisaya accent.
2. Lourence- Special Child (Autism Spectrum Disorder). No friends, always rejected by
classmates.
3. Rosema, Shiela, Ann- Attention-seekers. Politician/business man’s daughters, rich kid, mean
girls and airheaded.
4. Lorenz- Genius but depressed. Aloof and competitive. Brings along a journal he always
writes on. Pressured by family’s expectations.
5. Dyana- Muslim. Friendly, open minded and religious.
6. Rhol- Poor. Always late and has eyesight problems.

Scene 1:

Teacher enters the classroom. Video calls boyfriend excitedly. In character ka


Music cue (First day high)
Entrance of each students
End music--- student’s sit down.

Scene 2:
Teacher introduces herself. Mean girls laugh.
Teacher’s roll call.
Teacher noticed the Muslim girl and told her an insensitive statement. “Muslim? Sayang ang
sarap pa naman ng karne ng baboy lalo na yung adobo favorite ko yun.” Something like that
basta
Poor girl running late, tripped down. Mean girls laughing/bullying
Teacher lowkey concern lang. Hesistant nga aganawa.

---music then change formation-

Scene 3:
Classroom discussion and recitation.
Genius always reciting.
Mean girls uyaw uyawen da ni genius saying “Lagi na lang aral aral inaatupag tsaka nakakatwa
yang hobby. Journal boy weirdowww” Then katakatawa
Teacher stopped them ngm mabain kanyada so pinasunbatan na ida.
Mean girls cannot answer.
Special child laughs at them.
Commotion between mean girls and special child.
Teacher don’t know what to do. Walk out ka ghurl.

Scene 4: NEXT DAY, VACANT TIME

*Silence* The students realized what they did is wrong so they reconciled chuchu for the sake of
the teacher kase best in walk out. Hug hug ibit ibit kada plinnastik haha. Pero they noticed that genius is
not around.

Teacher enters the classroom. Namumugto and mga mata. Proceeds directly to announce that
Genius took his life. “Police ruled out it was suicide.” Students shocked. Syempre ka OAn reactions
dagijay mean girls or kahit isa lang sa kanila. “According to them, they found out reveations about the
pressure he is receiveing from bis family and he became depressive b/c of that. he has suicidal thoughts
and been planning his suicide since last year according to the daily entries written in his journal.” Hawak
ni teacher ang journal then pinakita sa kanila. Special child started showing emotions then followed by
mean girls na nagiiyakan then all of them followed. Teacher went to them and hug them all uttering
apologies, some praises and comforting words they never get to tell genius when he was alive.
