BOWLING HISTORY

❖ In the 1930’s, a British anthropologist named Sir


Flinders Petrie discovered a collection of objects
in a child’s grave in Egypt that appeared to be
used for a primitive form of bowling which is
from 3200 BC.

❖ A historian named William Pehle whom said that


there was evidence of bowling in Germany
around 300 AD.
❖ In the 1366, bowling was forbidden by King
Edward III in the England because the game was
taking archery practice away from his troops.

❖ Later, it is also known that Henry VIII brought


bowling back to England.

became well known in the US.

City.
❑ In 1850, there were more than 400 bowling alleys
in New York City.
❑ The 1st bowling game on television was in 1950.
❑ In 1963, Americans spent over $43,600,000 on
bowling balls.
❑ In the early days of bowling, 200 was considered
to be a perfect score.
